Thanks! Probably not the most exciting read so far as a lot of it is not about the truck.

Our bacon is normal. Round bacon is called back bacon, but you may as well call it ham.

Yeah... canadian bacon comes from the back whereas 'flat' bacon comes from the sides of the belly.

I just finished reading the entire thread, and think that its great! I love my old truck, and now that I am retired I have time to attend to long put-off details. You are way up on me, as far as custom/mod engines are concerned. Hats off to you Tro. I will do a running video so u can hear the old guy rap up. Oh, thanks for the address on the guages.. I have a F600 black/chrome dash like the one in the photos, but w/o tach & Vacuum .. Soon I hope.

Keep this thread going amigo..

There is an OEM tach but I doubt anyone here has one lying around.

I've been super busy with work, loading up tons of hours. I wish I had more to say than that. On one hand though it's nice because I'm making coin which for obvious reasons will assist in the purchasing of parts. Once my paycheque comes in it'll be a trip to the machine shop, I'm thinkin. Other than my pistons, I have all my parts ready. I simply don't have the real estate to be doing other things at the same time. Suburban living. Gotta love it.

Once the engine is done, my buddy will drive his forklift over and we'll load the body onto the trailer and I'll take it away, out of sight and out mind and that way I'll be left with just a frame to work on.

I've also been busy working on the '73 while I wait to get it registered. So while I unfortunately haven't been doing much to the '69 ( ) I have been keeping myself very busy.

Being to busy can be bad!

Sometimes the heart gets lonely with a girl friend. They get the feeling of being ignored an left out of your life, as if you don't care any more. Or feeling used when ya have needs or wants..

So don't forget about her.

Particularly when you're spending your time on a younger model.

I inquired into my exhaust valves from SI, as I was told they were on a ten week backorder... ten weeks ago. Turns out they decided to discontinue them! Would've been nice to have known that a long time ago. So I bought 1.600" small block Chevy valves. They're 0.101" longer, but maintain the 0.342" stem diameter of the Ford. Just gotta do some fiddling with pushrods and springs to make up for it.

Obligatory photo.

Would it be possible to trim down the stems to the correct length? Having different springs and pushrods for intake and exhaust is ok, lots of engines were that way, but it makes it more complicated.

Valve stems are hardened. I doubt any shop would even want to attempt resizing them. Just gotta shim the springs and change pushrod sizes. I'll be switching to 3/8" pushrods anyway so it's really not a problem for me.

I think that Clifford Performance, had, or might still have, the valves you were looking for. When I did the head mods, for my 300, they had them, in 2 valve lengths, for the different rocker set ups on the 300's heads. Not sure if you need 'em now, but for future stuff, you might give 'em a call...

Good luck with your build... I am sure it will come out perfect, with the attention to detail you have..

Funny you mention that. Here's an approximate quote from my conversation over the phone.

"The only way we're going to start making them again is if there's high demand for them. Unless someone like Clifford starts mass ordering these valves again, there's no market for them. It's just not an engine that people typically build up."

So no, Clifford does not have them because they stopped buying them from SI.
