Pressed in new cam bearings

Total just under 500$

Prices seem to fluxuate a bit from place to place but its pretty close to what Kevin is dealing with. Boring the cylinders and pressing in cam bearings was the bulk of the cost at 300$.

The sleve + pressing it in was just shy of 100$.
That is a great price, had I found a deal like that I would have gone that route, I got quotes closer to 1400 for just the machine work, and I would have reassembled it.
I ended up getting the entire truck for 1k,https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ckenstein.html I got it to fire and run this morning... it has minimal blowby, so hopefully it works out for me.

I too can't believe how little it cost Chris to get the machine work done. My favorite local machine shop is more in line with the price you were quoted. So hopefully Kevin get some good prices for quality work.

It may have something to do with where Im located. Im smack dab in the middle of machine shop Mecca. Sadly though.. with as many shops in the area making chips... Premiere is the only (reputable) engine game in town. I figure Butch prices his work as he does to keep it that way.

Kevin... i dont remember if i already asked you...
But are you back in Tx now?

No, still in the frozen tundra. Probably will be for the foreseeable future, sadly.

While I wait to hear from the machine shop, let's come up with a name for my truck!

A) Knockers
B) Gruff, the tragic wagon
C) Pretty Gritty Clang Bang
D) (something else)

I have a thing for things that are whimsical or humorous. The list contains a play on the words in the titles of a 1963 song by Peter, Paul and Mary and a 1964 Ian Fleming novel about a magical car as well as a slang term for female breasts. No cartoons, though. I couldn't come up with anything for Planes, Trains & Automobiles or Smokey and the Bandit.

Hey now!!! Some of us ( ok, at least me) are quite glad to have you around Kevin! Maybe more Texans should move up here and then it wouldn't be such a bad place to live. I'm sure we could find a nice shop for Chris to set up in and then we'd get done truck engines done up nice between the two of you guys!

That's what I'm thinking. The wear pattern on the main bearings was what made me ask them to check it for straightness in the first place. A couple had wear that was deeper toward one edge than the other.
