RIP - US Border Patrol Agent Javier Vega Jr
About an hour ago I got a call from one of my uncles that my cousin, from another uncle, was shot and killed in South Texas while fishing with his family. He was a Border Patrol Agent, and retired US Marine, that was off duty trying to get some family time in. His father was also shot but is expected to recover. Apparently it was an attempted robbery and car jacking. My cousin's wife was able to recover his sidearm and fire back, while his father fired back with an AR15 hitting their vehicle and possibly wounding one of the attackers as they fled. They were reported to be 2 illegal aliens, probably cartel or drug mules. I don't know anything else yet. . . He and I were very close and I am so upset. We got to get this ******* border security fixed.

I'm sure details will come out as the investigation goes on.

I am very sorry for your loss. A tragic reminder of why we MUST seal our Southern Border.
My wife, youngest daughter and I were on our way back from a pretty big gun show in Dallas this past Sunday. Both are CHL holders but, do not carry unless they feel they will be going into a known "bad" area or are on a road trip.
I reminded them that our borders are as porous as they have ever been and that very bad guys are crossing the border at will. They are not coming here to reform or looking for an honest roofing job. The bad guys are coming here to be better bad guys and to prey on those that have some measure of prosperity.
The border states absorb the first, and most intense, wave of these bad guys and the southern portions of those states take the biggest surge.
These aren't independents folks. These are seasoned cartel thugs and gang members. Some of which are in their early teens and embedded with the youth streaming across the border today. They are there to recruit and train new gang members from South America. Our Border Agents are powerless to intervene...because they are among the poor displaced youth.
Gov. Perry is moving forward with the deployment of the National Guard to our border with Texan tax dollars but, this will only hold up for a few months. Hopefully, this deployment will help prevent more senseless murders.
Congress taps their toes to Obama's fiddle....while the border states burn.
Prayers reach out to you and your family IronCobra...and prayers for the safety of all those that try to protect us.

Sounds as if he didn't take his punishment very seriously.
This business is out of control.

Here is a e-mail I got this morning:

DearColleagues,
It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Border Patrol AgentJavier Vega, who was killed in South Texas on Sunday evening while off-duty.
Agent Vega was based at the Kingsville Station of the Rio Grande Valley sector. He was a devoted husband and father, a Marine Corps veteran, and a proud memberof the United States Border Patrol.
He loved his country and served as a Border Patrol Agent for more than sixyears. DHS continues to support the investigation into his death in closecollaboration with federal, state, and local law enforcement.
Sincerely,
Jeh Charles Johnson
Secretary of Homeland Security
