That came right from the owners manual George. I dont worry to much about it since most of the roads I take drain well enough. But when we get rains like we did yesterday I have to worry about it. A few spots near my house have covered the water depth signs to the point you cant see them. Those signs are 5 feet high and there was at least 3-4 feet of water over the signs.
Darn, I try to add reps, but I get that stupid message, "you've got to spread some reps around before you can post more to this person"...... dumb rule! I've posted to everyone that I know!
Wow, that is some serious flooding! You'd need snorkels for air and exhaust, and maybe wet suits for passengers to drive through that!!!
Yeah it is a good bit of flooding. They are very low areas that have hills on each side. One is a stream crossing where the bridge is about 7 inches above the water. The other is an underpass so the road doesnt interrupt a rail yard and the Northeast corridor for Amtrak.
Maybe it is time to buy a helicopter!!!!! My elder son works for the U.S. Army in its helicopter development division.
He tells me that helicopters don't really fly, they just beat the air into submission!!
I have very little hope that fixing a lot of our transportation and infrastructure problems will ever happen. They would require forethought and thorough planning, and we seem to be lacking in both of these areas..... Big Time!
it wont George. Not for many years. The one area has very poor drainage. It is in between 2 hills, has 2 rail bridges that go over it that drain there as well as both hills. ANd then 95 runs over and drains there as well. When we get rains like yesterday it has no where to go but there and it sits. They have to bring vacuum trucks in to suck the water out usually after an idiot tries to drive through water that is taller then their vehicle.
I still cannot believe the fiasco with I-495 in Wilmington. As I see it, it was just some contractor doing what he could get away with, and nobody keeping a vigilant eye over state property and public safety........ Fortunately, it is being fixed much faster than was thought even possible, but those who caused the problem should be forced to pay every last penny.
That is a traffic nightmare I sure. We had to close the northbound side of the harbor tunnel here yesterday because the pumps couldnt handle the amount of water coming in from the storm. Part of the Baltimore Beltway was closed because it had 3 feet of water in the travel lanes.
Wow, I'm glad that I didn't have to travel through Annapolis/Balt/Washington area then, I wouldn't know how to avoid the bottlenecks! I couldn't just drive across a field to get away over your way!
