Lift Gate

I have a 2007 Lincoln Navigator. My lift gate will open automatically all the way to the top. Once it reached its max capacity to the top, Also my doors will unlock and the park lights will blink on and off. Please advise. Has anyone encountered this situation? Please advise thanks.

When you say it opens automatically, is it opening by itself without anybody pushing a button?

I wish I understood this system thoroughly so I could help you out. But I don't.

Has it rained a lot lately? When the parking lights blink is it once or do they keep blinking on and off?

I am interested because I also have a 2007 Navigator.

Hello Richard. Sorry for the delayed response. Yes it is opening by itself...totally without anyone pushing any buttons. During the timeframe the lights were blinking it had been raining quite a bit. Have you experienced similar issues with yours?

I'm not sure. Maybe it could be a voltage problem...I'm going to test the battery tomorrow even though it cranks and starts up fine. I just disconnected the battery in order to close the lift gate. Just trying to see if anyone out there has

Yes, make sure your battery is good. Do you have access to a scanner?

Some scanners can read body problem trouble codes. Our cars have a CAN system and the liftgate system may give a trouble code.

Your system is acting crazy like it got water in a junction box, wiring or module. The liftgate has it's own system and is hooked to the interior lights but not the parking lights.

l looked in the 2007 Expedition/Navigator Service Manual's liftgate chapter. It has lots of symptoms and tests to diagnose problems. I did not see any symptoms like yours at all. All the trouble codes and testing were addressing things that did not work. Your system is overdoing things. I will look at the manual again tomorrow afternoon or evening.

The only things that were not normal with my liftgate is a few times when it was very cold is that it closed right away after I opened it. I reopened it a few times and then it stayed open. It never happened again so I didn't have to fix anything.
One other thing that was wrong is that it started opening about 6" short of full travel. I replaced the struts (Ford parts) and that fixed it. I did the reinitialization procedure and all has been well.

Have 2014 Navigator L, the lift gate has opened two different times
going down the road. Check every thing I know of and find no problem.
Have a led red light, and a switch as on door for lights. Will install this
week for a alarm system.
