It's amazing that most everybody else here is reporting 11-13 mpg at typical highway speeds, yet you are able to achieve 11.8 going 80-112 mph in the mountains, and he can get 12.5 at 90+. Perhaps your mountain highway was all downhill. Here in the soaring mountains of Lower Alabama, mine gets 12-13 mpg, unloaded, driving in the low 70's. Wind resistance is proportional to the velocity squared, and F250's and Excursions have roughly the aerodynamics and frontal area of a small shed. Excuse me if I'm skeptical.

After looking over my logs from 2012, on the way up when i was running real fast was 11.3 MPG and on the way back also running hard but not as hard i got 11.7 MPG hand calculated, gallons divided by miles traveled. I run the same size as stock (around) tires so my odometer is correct.
think whatever you want, i know what i get as I've made the same trip in my previous Excursion also (same V10, 3.73s and 4x4 with same tune) and got 13.8 MPG when running closer to the speed limit (65-75 mph)
on other trips with lower speed limits running around 63mph i was able to obtain 14.1 MPG but driving that slow kills me.

i have it logged, at typical highway speeds i can get 13.5-14.1 MPG. real world numbers with my '02 3.73 4x4 Excursion with a SCT3 tune.

If by typical highway speeds you mean 65-75, then mileage in the 13's is certainly possible, I usually run in the low 70's and can depend on 12-13 unloaded. And if you're running around 80, then I can believe your 11.3-11.7 numbers. If you spent any time at all at 112, it would absolutely kill your mileage, because you'd be lucky to get 5 mpg at that speed.
But, there is no way these things will get 12.5 mpg at 90 mph, which is what I was saying in the first place, and if you can only get 14.1 mpg by running at 63, then I would think you'd have to agree that 12.5 at 90 isn't credible.

I only reported my ENTIRE trip total. thats 1400 miles freeway, approx 200 miles around So-cal. My 2001 was 8-10 all day long rolling 42's. My next questions are:<br />A. Why would somone lie about MPG on a V10??? not trying to sell you my truck, or get you to buy my gas for the year, so what gain?<br /> </p>

Spent a whole mile at 112, then plenty of passes at 90-100. but you have to remember this is over 400 miles, so there was periods of 45-55 when going through construction zones..ect. it all came out in the wash it seems.
Considering my V10 is a 2V and 4 speed tranny, i believe a 3V and 5 speed could get 12ish at 90.

I just ran my "new to me" 2009 king ranch from Salt Lake City, Ut to Anaheim California. Most of the freeway limits have been raised to 80, so I ran 90 minus through towns and a bit in arizona. Averaged 12.5 MPG with 2 adults three kids and a pickup bed full of luggage/strollers/coolers. I think 12.5 (from fill ups not the lie o meter) at 90 MPH is pretty damn good. Plus this thing is fun as hell to drive.

Furthermore; Im a fairly successful guy, with a beautiful wife and three kids. A great career that pays me WAY to much. So tell me again if I were going to lie why would it be to a group of strangers on the internet? And why would I lie about my gas mileage? what exactly is the point? I have receipts, and store locations of EVERYWHERE I bought gas. I can prove at any point in time that I did in fact average 12.5 (well, actually 12.47 EXACTLY). Can you prove I didn't?
Also, go read the front page of this thread. people are reporting 14-15 MPG. and even some easy drivers reporting 12 with a load. GO call all of them liars. My truck is the 5r110 and 90 MPH in final is only about 2800 RPM's The V10 loves to maintain RPM. On the flat freeway between here and Vegas and the three little climbs between them and California it didn't have to do a lot of accelerating, just stick it and stay.

Wait now you claim you work, are married and have kids? Now I call b.s.. Just kidding. Actually we had a 2003 Tahoe with a custom ecm tune that averaged 23 mpg for the 2500 trip we took to Oregon and did the same on the 3000 mile trip we took earlier, in a vehicle that was epa rated for 18 on the highway. Sometimes good things happen.

Seeing as this thread states "Real world MPG of your v10", here is my real world MPG tracked. Of course I'm probably lying with the numbers in my app too. Ha. Proof in my numbers, but mine will be worse with the dual rear wheels and it's constantly attached to a trailer.
Here lies the problem with this. This is MY real world mpg. Maybe your real world is all highway driving. If so my mpg has no bearing on what "average" is for someone else. Right?
