ya know the 3.8 is a pretty damn good block to build on... theyre capable of 700 hp and still be reliable.. if built right can even handle 35psi of boost...

that it is... truck versions of the 4.2 has quite a few differences than the cars version which makes swapping those parts into the car 3.8 a pita... but the crank will drop right into the 3.8
As much as i hate the 4.0 they came out with for 2005.. ill give it credit in one area... they can be pushed to output 550 hp without an engine rebuild.. New injectors.. 15psi capable supercharger.. and a good tune and youll have yourself a 10sec street capable car outputting 550 hp. 4.0 was also based loosely on the 3.8... but theres so many differences the parts cant be interchanged...
the new 3.7 is a debored 3.8... its pretty much the same block but biggest difference... unlike the 3.8 being a pushrod motor.. the 3.7 is a DOHC.. and its also an all aluminum engine as well.. the only thing i dont like ford did was they limited its hp to 305.. its capable of way more but ford gave it a very sucky conservative tune...
