Hello finally signed up after creeping around for a few months. I currently have a live I Las Vegas nv
1972 f100 yellow.
49000 miles on truck
98000 on engine and trans. They are from 1998 mustang gt.
Flow master mufflers( don't really like the sound so switch over to borla)
Suspension is stock right now. With 22inch rims
Just ordered crown Vic ifs from 2010 so I can finally have better brakes and ride
Saving up now for 2003 cobra irs and 2001 dohc cobra motor and trans. Truck is mostly just a weekend driver at the moment. Want to get ac and new seats so I can take my wife and daughter out cruising . So far my daughter loves it. She calls it my flying bannana. My over all goal is to do a complete frame off on the truck. With pearl white paint.

When you do the interior, get rid of the stock instrument cluster in favor of an F600 unit with full gauges. Like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Ford-Truck-Interior-Instrument-Cluster-Panel-Speedometer-Tachometer-AIR-/371085551604?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56666c27f4&vxp=mtr
That's a great price on that, BTW! If I didn't already have one, I'd be all over it. He may have gotten it out of a 74, but if he did it was laying on the seat cause it's not going to fit the dash opening of a 74!
You can get new gauges for it. Maybe have the bezel rechromed, or sandblast it and paint. I've seen both done, and both looked good.
For the radio, here's how you can install a modern single DIN radio in the dash opening:

Have fun with your truck!

I'm always a sucker for a yellow old ford truck. Can't get enough of them. Looks like someone put some time into it with the motor swap and paint. Not a fan of those black mans rims though. How's the condition of the body? Got any pics of the mustang irs? curious to see how to adapt that into the truck.

I bought it from my brother in law. Tried trading him my Chevelle 5 yrs ago but he wouldn't go for it . But now he got a new project and got him to finally sell. That cluster is nice I will go with it defiantly. Keep original look with modern gauges. The body needs some work. Lot of bondo on it and rust coming through paint. Will be sand blasting the body in next week or so. But my body shop wants the challenge . They've done awesome work for me in the past. Yeah the rims I hate but don't want to buy new ones till the new suspension goes on. The ifs and irs are different bolt pattern. Haven't bought the irs yet. Still saving. It's around 600-800 for a complete one. It's full custom mount though. I'm basing it off of project rolling thunder from trucks on power block. The did the swap in a mazda b2500. Plus it's stronger then the crown Vic/mark viii irs. And saves a little bit of money. Since I wanna put cobra brakes on all 4 corners. Right now I'm using the mustang cluster will cheap autozone gas and collant temp gauges. I have the stock f100 cluster still but not sure what to do with it now. I will post up more pics of the interior tonight.

It was already in there from brother in law. I don't like it that much. Not much aftermarket for 98 motors. Have to swap a lot to get power. But I'm gonna pick up 01 cobra engine and pro charge it later on.

This is what I'm working with at the moment. Redoing the entire harness. Was just shoved in there and kept getting in the way of the brake and a lot of the wires are frayed and disconnected. This is the exhaust I'm using. Originally I bought it to use on my Datsun 620 but since sold the truck and had the borla sitting around figured I might as well put it to use. It's designed for a mazda rx8 but fits nicely under the f100. 3inch inlet with dual 2inch outs.

Looks like a bit of a wiring nightmare.

Be sure to poke your head into the Nevada group and join the chapter.

Not sure where you are getting your information on the IRS. The Cobra is the same bolt pattern as the CV IFS. I do not know how you determined the Cobra is any "stronger" than the MN12 or FN10 IRS. All use the 8.8 center section. With exception of 6 cyl MN12 units. All are 28 spline axle shafts.

It is common to swap the Cobra hubs into the MN12 or FN10 units along with the Cobra rear discs to match patterns and upgrade the rear brakes.

The cost of the MN12 and FN10 is far less than the Cobra unit. Dave at www.truckirs.com sells a mount kit that makes the MN/FN swap a one day job.

Sorry if I made it seem that way.what I meant on the different bolt pattern is the crown Vic and cobra units compared to the factory f100. About the 22s that are on the truck and wanting to get rid of them anyways. I didn't think the crown Vic diff would hold up to 400+ hp. If they do hold the same I might just use it and save a little bit of money for the engine.

You sound confused. The solid axle from the CV by design would be "stronger" than an IRS. The MN12 came from Thunderbirds and Cougars. The FN10 came from Mark VIIIs. Both are IRS. Parts interchange with the Cobra IRS. The bolt circle on both the MN and FN is smaller than the CV. This is why folks swap in the Cobra units.

Here is my truck with the IFS from a 2005 CV and a MN12 IRS from a 1995 Thunderbird
