How much pressure (PSI) should I run in these tires?

The tires are rated at a specific load capacity at their maximum air pressure. Those will be rated at something like 3400lbs at 80psi. As you lower the air pressure the overall capacity will be reduced. The factory recommendation is 45psi front and 55psi rear. Here is an example from Firestone on what I'm referring to. Scroll down to the Light Truck section and look for your size:

I guess it all depends on the tire and size, according to the graph a 285 tire can handle over 2500 pounds at 45psi, That is 5000 pounds per axle. I have to check my weight slip but I am pretty sure my f250 4x4 with a 5.4 doesn't weigh over 5000 pounds on either axle..

As per my weight slip, my rear axle was 3200 pounds empty and my front was 4000 empty, I am running a 285 tire so per the graph I should be running about 35 in the rear tires and about 40 in the fronts. At those weights why do you think it will generate to much heat ,if the graph is believable that the givin PSI is safe for the weight specified..

Rides like a cadillac with 35 lbs in the tires they are soft, poor wear and the look flat. Drove home with new tires thinking WOW, then found out why..
I run 60 all around seems to be a happy medium, but rougher on brick streets, but i like the ride on the hiway.
I have mich ltx ms2 on my 2wd 6.0 psd
