Absolutely.

If you break down the additional cost of a superior product over the period of time you own it, it becomes a trivial amount. I paid the extra cost for my Michelin LTX MS/2's and will likely have them for at least 4-5 years knowing I have a superior product. Excellent ride and handling in all conditions, and they balance well with minimal weights. All of our vehicles have always been shod with Michelins. They're an outstanding tire.

 

I haven't run anything but a Michelin tire for probably 20 years or more. Tough to beat in an every day tire.

 

Michelin maintains accurate dimensions on the tires during fabrication that result in less balancing needed. I have run Michelin AT's on electrical service trucks (commonly overloaded) for many years and experienced long service life with exceptionally uniform wear and unusually long life(70-90 Kmiles). These trucks often were on the highway, so that certainly lengthened the tire life. But still, 8,000# or more load for the life of the tire shows that the company cares about quality. Other than road hazards, I never had any problems with Michelin tires over 40 years.

 

I also have 285/75r16 and the firestone destination at's are junk have 16k on them doubt I'll get another 1k outta them. I'm going with either dynapro atm rf10s, or leanin more towards Vanderbilt wild Trac ltr max 50k warranty and free road hazard on a lt! we have mounted many dynapro and just mounted the first set of wild tracs on a three quarter ton actually they where in my size and the price is hard to beat!

I'll second snake's comment.

My Transforce HT's have been good for me, but they are an over-the-road highway tire, and do not rate well in an off-road environment.

Since I use them for what they were designed, they perform very well for me.

I just got the Michelin AT/2's on my Excursion from the local Ford dealer last month. They matched Costco's price, I set up a Quicklane account, got a $120.00 rebate card from Quicklane and then got $70.00 back from Michelin. Michelins website should be able to tell you which dealers in your area are offering the $70.00 rebate. My net cost on these tires were $188.75 each 265-75-16. Might be worth checking around.

I run the cooper discoverer on my van & my pickup- Excellent tire Quiet & good traction wet or dry- I dont put a lot of miles on my trucks so the michelins would dry rot before I used up the tread life.

Observation...

This morning, as I was walking in to the office through the company parking lot, I started looking at the tires on the various vehicles I was passing. On ALL of the full size trucks I passed, they were all wearing Michelins. Overall, at least 75% of the vehicles I passed were wearing Michelins (granted, a variety of vehicles including small sedans, sports cars, mini SUV's, and small trucks). Granted, this was while walking down only one of eight rows of vehicles, too, but still... what does it say that the majority of the engineering firm employees on that side of the parking lot were all running Michelins?

Regardless, even if you can't find the Michelins, Caeden, there are certainly other good tires available as well.

 

I found some! In town too! A little deeper digging found a set of four buried in a warehouse. $280 a piece plus the $70 rebate. Mounting, balancing, and an alignment are all included! Now I'm just waiting on all my front end parts and ill get those on, new kicks, and an alignment and it'll be like driving a cadi.
