Here is a small update. I began working on the inside of the cab, grinding the floors to see where the rot if any is located. I found a couple spots, on the fresh air vent "walls" at the bottom as well as on the roof, above the front windsheild in the gutter as well as into the roof, not sure how I am going to fix this. The rot on the fresh air vent walls is on flat metal so I can weld new in, but that roof has a lot of curves and bends. Anyways, its coming along, I will post more pics in a day or so.

And power brakes and Custom Cab (bright windshield molding, chromed instrument bezel, and what appears to be a hazed-over anodized grille) to boot! Not your usual F-350!

Great project!

Glad to hear your making progress on engine. Another interesting item on your truck is the black vinyl seat and matching black arm rest. The heavy duty black vinyl seat was optional on both standard and custom cab trucks. Your body code on the warranty plate on drivers left door should have a "6" prefix.

Thanks Steve, Im just plugging along, slow and steady. There are a few "add-ons" on this 350 than on the usual cab

Thanks! Its a slow process, it turns over and sputters but doesn't run, I think a carb rebuild is in order.

Where is there somewhere that I can decode my vin tag, I found it all except my Body Style, which is F81...

Thanks for posting warranty plate. I am not an expert at decoding, but have an eye for factory originality. I am sure Number Dummy can decode your truck correctly, he is the decode expert.

Here is a '66 on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-F-100-Longbed-Beautiful-1966-Ford-F100-in-original-condition-unmolested-nice-as-they-come-/161344727075?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2590e52823&item=161344727075&pt=US_Cars_TrucksTrucks with the same heavy duty black vinyl seat. Seller shows dealer invoice with seat listed as an accessory item? Door warranty tag shows it was built as "581" standard red vinyl seat for '66. Built with red seat at factory and switched out at dealer for the heavy duty black vinyl I probably got your '64 body trim mixed up. F81 probably is a custom cab truck built with a heavy duty black seat, were as 681 probably is a standard cab truck with the heavy duty black seat.

Tripleframe, these codes and everything get confusing when you start drilling into the internet. Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been swamped at work. Here are a couple pics. I got the heads off the engine, found my stuck valve and got it loose. I just dropped them off at a guy to clean them and check the deck for warping. Then I hope to get her back together and fire it up. I got the bed off and some of the body panels off. Next is brake lines and I need to find a radiator, any body have any clues where to pick up a reasonably priced one? $400 was about as cheap as I can find.

In 1964 Trim Code F81 is "Black all vinyl" so that seems to jive with the actual truck. 81B - Custom Cab. That's a good thing.

Hey Guys! I have been busy with work, but have managed to get a few things done... My biggest problem is trying to get the distributor out, it seems to be seized in there, wont turn. Also, I need to adjust my valve lash but cannot see any markings on my balancer for timing I see "TDC" but no definitive marks to say where TDC actually is. Anyways, I got the rear half of the frame painted using POR15, it came out well and is rock hard.

I also got the engine back together this weekend and got that running, but with the valve lash, a tad out of time and my carb needing adjustment it was not a pretty sounding truck. Haha

Here are a couple pics....

Hey guys, as many of you know from my other posts, I have been working on my brakes and finally got that all set with a complete overhaul from the MC all the way to the shoes. I took the truck for its maiden voyage on New Years eve and it ran.... decent. I live on dirt roads so, I am able to drive it around without fear of police (cuz I know I couldn't outrun them with 5.25 gears in the rear). Anyways a couple links to Youtube videos.

Maiden Voyage:

Second Trip:

Its not the most exciting thing in the world to watch, but damn is it a sigh of relief for me; many months of work came together. It is still running a little rough and most of the noise you hear is from exhaust leaks; I am considering headers for it, not sure which ones to go with, any suggestions would be great.

Anyways, hope you all as enjoying your weekends!

Its funny you should say that... after that last video; I did wash it. My side (drivers side) was washed but I never got around to washing the pass side.

Hope you didn't get motion sickness.... gotta love a bumpy dirt road to make you hit your head on the roof.

Is it gonna be a toy or a hauler? My 60 F350 has 5:14 gears in the rear, but my axle is a Rockwell. You have a Dana and can change the ring and pinion. I previously had a 64 F250 with 4:56 gears and it would run 65 down the road. You might consider that for something in the future.
