Well according to international powerstroke.com the best hp the 7.3 had was 275 hp. According to M.cummins.com the best hp the 5.9 had was 325 hp.. That's 50 hp difference you can't argue that

not in my experience. a 5.9 powered F650 or F750 is a death trap that should not be allowed on the road. they do not have enough power to pull out into traffic empty, let alone with a 10 ton load on the back of the truck.
a 7.3 powerstroke or DT444E in an international, a 6.0/DT365, or a C7 tact is hands down the better choice

You can't argue that because they don't put one is and the 5.9 had more house power and torque in that year then the 7.3 and would have broke with a 6.0 like it did in the ambulance they put them in when they came out.. So if it is bad it would have been a lot worse to put a powerstroke inside.. He wants to know why they put the cummins in those are 2 big reasons why they would have ..

i had the misfortune of having to run htose underpowered slugs for close to 20 years. i have plenty of experience with them, and can tell you without a doubt a 7.3, 6.0, or C7 cat is way better than a 5.9.
i had brand new 5.9 powered trucks that could not pull out into traffic where 7.3 powered trucks just scooted away.
the only 5.9 powered truck i ever drove that was worth anything had a 13 speed in it. it was slower than a snail climbing a salt hill in the winter, but at least it would pull a load.
