Project 4x4 lightning
Hey there, new to this forum and still trying to figure it out so please bare with me. But I have a 97 f150 4x4 with a tired 4.6, I'm looking to swap the motor with a 2004 lightning 5.4, all of the parts can and probably will come out of the wrecked lightning I have access to. I know already I'm getting the complete engine, computer and wiring harness. I guess the transmission is no good for me because it's only 2wd. What other transmissions are out there that would be suitable for this build? The more info the better. Price isn't to much of a problem but not gonna break the bank at the same time.. I'm looking to make a list of all the parts I need or should have to make this swap work perfectly. Thanks y'all!

Ok, looks as quite a few people have looked at this post, so here's an update.. today I saw the donor lightning, all the parts i know I need already, look to be in good shape, I need a battery and a new belt to fire it up and hear it run still. Goin to my local speed shop tomorrow morning to see what they say about the swap. I may be able to run the original but defiantly not stock transmission. This whole swap is comin along faster then I expected. Unfortunately it's my daily driver and I would rather take more time to make it perfect. So that being said, this will be a minimum of a couple weeks swap. (I do have another vehicle for gettin to work) i work in the evenings so all my build will be in the mornings and days off and my posts or replies most likely at night. I'll be posting pictures and updates as often as possible. Hope you all enjoy and chime in with some helpful info. Thanks!

new update, the donor truck fell through, first of all the motor had more millage then it was listed at and turned out the truck was stolen... oh well new 4.6 will be used instead, plenty of power adders will be strapped to it, low rpm rv cams under drive pulleys, probably some head work. stainless valves. ill be running no boost as of now.. but that will come later on, nothing more then 8 pounds tho bein that the bottom end is stock for now.. bbk headers shortys , 2 high flow cats, upgraded my y pipe already because the factory one is very poorly built, or at least MINE was... single 3" exhaust with a single chamber cherry bomb all stainless exit behind the passenger side rear tire, actually looks factory although sounds great. not too loud and no drone. larger throttle body with a port match intake both to the throttle body and heads. plus size oil pan jump up to 24lb injectors for WOT. 4:11 gears front and rear, detoit rear locker, and my rear axle has already been upgraded to the 9.75 with disc brakes, direct swap. massive trans cooler and deep sump tranny pan maybe a new tq converter. biggest replacement radiator for added cooling potential. this truck does a bit of towing and im not really loking to toast my tranny again.. smdh. that's all I have either on the way now or in the process of building. should be up and running in a couple weeks . cant wait I miss driving my truck everyday. pictures will be posted accordingly when I figure out how too that is.. any other ideas anyone has? I was thinking e fans but unsure what rout to take there. keep hearin the aftermarket sucks when it comes to them. any factory e fans that will pull enough air and can be modded to work properly. I live in fl an traffic jams in the summer are not a good time a fan to not work. thanks yall.

1994 Lincoln Mark VIII Electric Fan
Automotive hobbyists of all sorts prefer the Lincoln Mark VIII fan for its tremendous pulling power. While we cannot confirm the CFM rating of these fans, once hooked-up, anybody would be impressed considering they can be snatched-up for under $30 at the wrecking yard.
