2015 Mileage

Over 27,000 miles averages about 1.5 mpg lower than my 2012 F250 SB did....
But better than my 7.3 Excursion and way better than my worst vehicle ever, a Chevy Suburban 1/2 ton that averaged 13.5 lifetime and had many trips to the dealer......
I ain't complaining, mine is a truck, a big truck that is the best ride I have had.

On the other hand, I drive two hours each way usually weekly, on almost all 50-mph roads. If I don't regenerate, I can easily achieve 23-24mpg, and the best I have ever achieved is 26.1 mpg on a 100 mile trip. If there is a regeneration, the mpg drops significantly. The best I *ever* achieved in my 2015 gas truck was 16.5mpg on my 200 mile loop, empty. So the diesel can get, at least on these roads, as much as 10mpg more than the gas. Which it needs to, because it cost $8500 for the privilege.

Once summer fuel hits and the temps go up, my daily driving I will see 15 mpg.
Long distance highway, I've seen 17.5 including regens. And this was with 4 people and the long bed was FULL of gear. Unlike my gas trucks I don't see a huge decrease when hauling gear.
I agree - about 1.5 - 2 mpg less than my 2011. I'm not expecting 20 mpg plus and really I am just disappointed, because even though the trucks are not EPA rated, many statements were made that the 2015's were going to get better mileage. BUT I didn't buy it because it got better mileage, I got it because it was time to trade up.
Without a regen for a stretch of road I saw 22 mpg going 45 mph (speed limit) so I know it's possible... And that was resetting the reasonable accurate dash computer in the parking lot before I did the drive.
As they say, your mileage may vary. And it isn't like I am known for getting epa estimates on cars that are rated.

No one should use me as the best case scenario. Even my wife can't get the EPA ratings on her vehicles... I am closer to your worst case scenario - other than being in DC, LA, Miami, or NYC type traffic...
I'm debating next winter on trying a winter front as people seem to say that helps in the MPG department. Nervous since Ford doesn't recommend one, but I see people with 6.7's running around up here with them... Haven't caught someone with one that I could ask questions to yet though. We are either driving down the highway or I see one parked unoccupied in a parking lot.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger Randy. My 2015 dosen't get that and it has narrow hips. Bigger turbo, more power, less mpg. Have to admit the extra power is awesome.

Just drove home from North Carolina yesterday. We have a '15, 6.7 short bed with 20" wheels quad cab. Have a Leer cap on the back and we were a consistent 19.9 mpg while cruising at 75mph most of the way. Most of my driving is towing a 30' Airstream but this trip was without the AS. I'm pretty sure if I held it back to 60-65 it would have gone over the 20 mark. I have a Titan 50gal tank and this is using the dash info. I find that the gallons used data to be right on and that held to be consistent with the miles driven.

I've noticed that if you want to get more than 16mpg you have to fully commit to paying 100% attention to every possible strategy to maximize your fuel use. Basically, you need to drive very carefully and hope for favorable winds.
When I tow I always get between 8 and 12, depends on how much air I'm pushing either with how big the trailer is or if there is a headwind.
I also agree that weight or load on the engine doesn't really have any effect. It's all wind and terrain that eats fuel.
