Help Replacing Oil Pan

I have a 94 F250 XLT 351w 4x4 that i need to replace the oil pan and gasket on. From what ive read and been told the only way to get the pan in and out is to lift the engine. Can somebody reply with step by step instructions, advice, and easier ways to get the job done. any pictures of the process will help too ... Any help is appreciated ... THANKS

Have you considered a small weld repair? (I'm an AWS cert welder)

Multi-pass MIG can be used depending on the extent of damage to your existing pan.

- Disconnect battery cables.
- De-pressurize fuel system
- Drain oil (extended multi-day period)
- Disconnect all pan bolts and lower pan whatever distance is possible(to vent pan of crankcase gases (fuel vapor)
- Use a warming torch to further break up oil /gunk and drain out the drain hole.
- Apply "spray" solvents, hot soapy water(in whatever space is provided between block and the "lowered" pan) to clean residual oil.
- Rinse clean, blow dry the pan w/compressed air
- Clean exterior of pan's repair area with solvents, alcohol then prep metal
- Multi-pass MIG repair
- New oil pan gasket

Some welders have even employed a brazing fix to oil pans, but the integrity is far less than a multi-pass MIG repair.......

I've built a couple of home made two-piece oil pans over the years and that would be possible for your application as well........(if you're an ambitious welder)
