Sgt93's 2015 F350 King Ranch Thread

I caught this on page ten. Takes the should I idle or not debate out:
Your vehicle may be equipped with a cold
weather starting strategy that prevents
severe engine damage by assisting in
engine lubrication warm-up. In extremely
cold ambient temperatures, this strategy
activates and prevents the accelerator
pedal from being used for 30 seconds after
starting your vehicle. A message will
appear in the information display as your
vehicle warms up. By not allowing the
accelerator pedal to be used, the engine
oil is allowed to properly lubricate the
bearings preventing engine damage due
to lack of proper lubrication. After the 30
second warm-up period, the accelerator
pedal will be operational again and a
message will appear informing you the
vehicle is ok to drive.
When starting the engine in extremely cold
temperatures (-15°F [–26°C]), it is
recommended to allow the engine to idle
for several minutes before driving the
vehicle.
And use the Block heater Below -10F.

In my 2011, I never had to plug in, even in -20+ temps. My 2007 Cummins 5.9 was another story

A lot of limitations with the operator commanded regen, assuming yours has that option. Can only use it if the DPF is 100% FULL and the drive to clean Exh message is on. Something I have only seen once on a previous truck I had.
I wish there was a way to activate the idle down engine timer without having the key in as well... Like stop, activate, remove key, and the truck shuts down on its own. Instead of me, stopping, removing key, hitting remote start, and walking away.

Thanks for all the posts in this thread. I am mulling over a new KR as my '11 has 137,000 miles on it. Trying not to jinx myself, the '11 has been a great truck. Water pump went out about 103,000 other than that, just changed the oil and filters with a set of new Michelins at 85,000. I'm not going to get in a big hurry to order, I will miss my Ranch Hand bumper replacements and my onboard air system.
I went to my dealer for a service yesterday and he made me drive a '15 black Platinum. Turbo lag was a little less than my current truck, but not all that much. I got her on the freeway and darn near broke my neck when I punched it. The Platinum is nice, but like Sarge I am a KR man. The touchscreen on the new trucks are nice and the screen is bigger, but I like the layout of the center dash better on my current truck. The Platinum MSRP'ed for a little over $64M. No sun roof.
I'll be following this thread to learn....
