Fog Lamps

From what I searched on the web this seems to be an issue for truck owners. One day my fog lamps went out as I turned the switch on, i heard a slight tick from under the dash area. through research it seems as if the fuse/relay in the fuse block has gone bad and fuse block needs replacing (expensive). I read other people say they just bypassed the fuse block to use the fog lamps with no explanations of how they did this. Has anyone else done this or had same problem? Id like to avoid using an external switch so if I can use the original fog lamp switch that would be awesome.
