Goodyear Wrangler RT-2 (possible knockoff?)
Anybody have experience with these tires? They're a military take off, 36x12.5x16.5. Not sure if they're bias ply or not..
They look like dis
Found a guy selling a set of 4, similar tread depth to those above and mounted on some grey wagon wheels. Without having seen them, I offered him $300 for the set. Would I be paying too much for them? I'd be cleaning and selling the wheels after a while, so I can get "some" money back then.

Looking back at the sale pictures, it's hard to tell, but the sidewall says "Goodyear Wrangler R/" then it gets cut off. Can't tell what is on the other side of the slash, so I'm not totally sure. I've queried the seller and waiting for a response. Did Goodyear ever make a knockoff tire that has the same tread pattern, but a different name?
Thanks

Yeah, there military HMMWV tires, pretty common, plenty of people run them and I hear good things. They are low load rating/pressure but I don't think that's a big issue for you. $300 is fair if tires and wheels are in good condition, most surplus military take offs have very minor wear. The issue I see here is age/size, IIRC these days they are 37x12.5R16.5. If they are 36x12.5 then likely they are the old version making them both very old and bias ply.
I have two of them with that tread pattern that IIRC are 37x12.5R16.5, I don't use them, they were given to be with a truck and I use them as pushers, engine holders etc. That said IIRC that they are radials and 37s then that tread pattern was made in a radial.

This tread pattern is only on the 36" version, and they are bias. I have found both my sets for $100 each brand new, but that is kind of rare. I would say $300 is a good price.
They are a good tire for the money. Sure there are better tires, but where can you get a 36 for $100ish? They do flat spot, but warm up and do decent on the street and offroad. For what it is worth, I was so happy with them on my ford, when I found a second set, I bought them for the Dodge

Be aware that the military tires Measure bigger than regular tires. Where as most tires measure smaller than they are rated, a regular 35 usually measures anywhere from 33.5 to 34.75 and the military 36 measures at 36 so take that into account when considering fitment.
They are heavy but they last a long time.
