Sorry for your pain. I lost my buddy Max the mutt after 17 years and said no more. Well 4 years later Sophie and Gracie (sisters) came along. I keep asking why did I wait so long. Think about it then get another in honor of your good buddy.
So sorry to hear, but sounds like she had a very loving last few years with you. We have 3 rescue dogs and 3 rescue cats. A lot of joy both ways. My 3 dogs love our twice a day walks! Our border collie was born deaf, but he understands a lot of hand gestures.
Actually in retirement, I volunteer as a big dog-handler at the Humane Society 4 days a week. She was too old and deaf. Nobody would adopt her. With me, she lived like a queen these last few years.
You know, that's what it is all about. You gave your dog the best years of her life and she gave you true love. There's nothing better than that.
Animals become a big part of our lives and we get so attached to them. So hard to see them go.
As much as I love my dog I will NEVER take him to a car show. I feel so sorry for dogs at car shows walking on the hot asphalt. I'd like to remover their owners shoes and socks and make them walk around for a while and see how they like it!
Very sorry to hear that. They are only with us for a short time but provide lots of happiness. IMHO only way to get happy again is to go look at puppies.
We are in the same boat. She is 14 years old, about 50% blind and 50% deaf. She can no longer control her bladder. That's were the real problem comes in. She has just been the best dog. She still wants to go for walks but she can only make it about a half a block. She doesnt seem to be in any pain so we are going to keep hanging in there with her as long as possible. But we can see the writing on the wall. Its going to be a tough decision and a rough day.
