Yes , I agree . I missed your id of the cyl . Although I asked you if you were sure about your Id , I did not catch that in your post . I think we should rep him ! Go to the Heart shape and click it to add reps .

i have one more concern, as i have tried to keep stuff from getting into the intake ports, i am fearing some of the dust may have gotin in, i just want to know if there are things i can do to clean up, make sure nothing will damage valve seats. can i flush before putting intake manifold back on?

Intake still off ?A bit of work , You should always clean with compressed air before removal .Cover intake ports ,Blow out plug holes , remove plugs . With plugs removed , vac out debris from intake ports . install intake ,Crank engine over with plugs removed and coils unplugged to blow any left over debris out . Put it back together . best of luck !

intake is still off, and I did try to keep clean but when I pulled intake off there may have been some that went in. I have inspected them, no large junk fell in and did vacuum out but still had plugs in. now that I know the firing order and that the number one is on the pass side, lol. I will pull out tomorrow and flush again. thanks so much.

yep waiting for payday, hey I have a stupid question for you. should I use gasket sealer? I know back in the older motors it was good to use, but not sure with the newer gaskets.

Many of these intake gasket designs require no sealant . Composite and rubber construction . I Personally look at the sealing surface , if pitted I apply a light film of Permatex Ultra Black to the metal surface . Not a bead ! , just a film to seal imperfections . I have yet to see an issue using that procedure . The water ports are your concern . The intake passages should be fine .But inspect both closely ! Best of luck !

I was just reading on the 4.6 liters ford motors, and found that they are not that big of a motor. they only come out to be 280 cubic inches. that's smaller then a 302. im kind of disappointed. thought they were pretty good motors. but giving them some credit as to there performance I guess. but they are not much for a truck. im sure the overhead cam and fuel injection boost there performance a great deal. what ever happened to the big block 390. or the chevy 454. kind of miss them.

I've had a chevy one ton dually with a 454 now I've got a F350 with a V10 415 ci. The triton v10 is much more impressive than the chevy. They both give around the same milage. 8-10 mpg.
I don 't see why ford even offered the 4.6. I've had all three the 4.2, 4.6, 5.4. The. 4.6 and the 4.2 v6 offered about the same performance. The 4.2 had 217 hp and 262 ft lbs while the 4.6 has 220/265. My v6 seemed to have more get up and go than my current 4.6. The v6 was easier on fuel unless you were towing. The. 5.4's 331 cu inch were not that impressive either. Just a tough dependable engine.

this is what I did, I went out and took some pictures of the valves, and was thinking. I cant really see the valve cause it was open, so I use my video cam on my phone and ran it while I was cranking over the engine. this is what I found, my truck has over 180k miles on it, and in my past there should be build up on the inside of the valve. but on mine it is very clean, as in zero build up, it actually looks like a brand new valve, and I check them all. these heads don't have 180k miles on them. makes me curious. I did buy the truck used but it was wrecked with little damage. so im thinking that maybe, just maybe I actually have new heads on this thing. what do you guys think. the valves actually look new. bearly even burned on the inside.
