Problem separating engine from bell housing

Removing 4.6 triton from 1998 F-150. Is there a way to remove the top 2 screws connecting the engine to the bell housing without removing the intake manifold?

Although I don't mind removing the intake, I am doing a 4.6 to 5.4 swap and would rather attach the intake prior to putting the 5.4L back in. Figuring if I cant get it out that way though, I wont be able to put it back that way.

Thanks!.

You may be able to reach if you are under using a long extension like a 2'...and a universal swivel socket.... it helps to have someone rest on the motor to help set the universal on the bolt and from below then zap off with impact gun. You'll have to get 1 from passenger and other from driver side underneath.

Small hands are necessity sometimes....

thanks. I see no way to get to the bolts from the top of the engine though. Might be able to accomplish by having somebody direct the universal from the wheel wells. I will need to drop the driveshaft and remove the exhaust to even have a chance at going up form underneath. Will give it a shot though. Thanks

I'm not trying to be nosy, but are you sure your well informed about the swap from 4.6 to 5.4.
There's a lot to know about it to get everything to work.
Good luck.

I have the swap notes from this site and have done some other homework along the way. I will admit that it has been a long time since I have swapped a motor and lots have changed since the last time; for example it was a heck of a lot easier to get to the bell housing bolts. I have always been pretty good mechanically though and not afraid to try. My main concern in the swap notes is having to swap pin outs. Its the electric stuff that's really hard to debug.I am sure you will see other posts from me though before this is complete. Things like, I know I need to replace the upper intake manifold, but wondering if I can reuse the lower intake. Also wondering if I could use the same fuel injectors or whether I should go ahead, suck it up and buy new ones. Stuff like that.

Thanks for responding. I am always willing to listen and take suggestions.
