GlennSwett from Montana 99-7.3 F350
After using this web site to fix my truck (see No Start after installing new O-rings) I thought I should introduce myself
I live in Great Falls Montana
I am 73 year young and retired
I was a computer system engineer for 40+ years, have a BS degree in math/physics and worked on development teams to build some realllly big computer system for the military, FAA and National Weather, etc. Traveled to a lot of foreign places.
My wife past away about 5 years ago and I move here to Montana to be near my daughter and grand and great-grand monsters.
I bought 5 acres and built a 48'x48' shop (my grand monster-son and I did 95% of the work). The shop has 8 - 12'x12' bays with a 24'x48' center. One bay is setup for welding, one has an 11000 lbs two post lift, and one bay is a wash rack and can be used as a paint booth.
I am in the process of building a house next to the shop but I am having a really hard time allotting time for the building now that the shop is functional. I want to play with my toys.
My toys are:
1957 Ranchero (work in progress)
1937 1 1/2 Ton Ford (work in progress)
1972 Ford F350 (back up ride when all else fails)
1927 Hemi Powered roadster (built from scratch, work in progress)
1999 F350 7.3 Dually, just finished (thanks to help from this site) O-ring and Glow plug installation.
Future plans:
My 99-7.3 need brakes
After my trials and tribulations with my injectors/glow plugs I came to the conclusion that the scanners that are available are either expensive or do not work very good. I am not interested in how many MPG but I am interested in a good diagnostic tool. It would seem that an open source tool could be developed that would be user friendly and adaptable to the user needs. The software has already been developed, do not want to re-invent the wheel here, I think it is just a matter of establishing a base for users to build on, any thoughts drop me a line.
Everyone have a great day and I want to send thanks again for all the great help I got from this site. It is really encouraging to know there are good folks out there that are willing to help dummies like me. As I learn I promise to pay back.
