its a coolant filter shawn... from what roy in MT chapter theyre designing one for 6.7's as well.. 6.4's could use em too.. main reason to have em? catch the particulates floating around the engine that randomly break off.. the other reason.. when the engines are casted they dont get all the casting sand out of them.. even repeated flushes dont manage to get it out.. but filters seem to catch a good bit of it since it flows through the engine eventually..

first filter change is at 500 miles... i planned to cut it open and see what it collected... 2nd filters supposed to be at 1000 miles then once a year...

Good morning Vermont woodchucks. Hope you're able to rise and shine after such a good birthday Jim. Brisk out there this AM - 15-16 below. Just love the cold weather. The woodpile shrinks pretty fast on days like this! Happy Tuesday. Our friends to the south are still digging out - us, not so much!
