We use a digital radio system at the university Devin. Ours is also a trunked system. We figured out our fire alarm trouble Tim. Water leak in one of the rooms causing an issue with a smoke detector.
That sounds like a nice system. We're on plain ol' narrow-band. Lots of static. I got a crappy loaner radio for the time being, which really sucks. Hopefully getting a pager on Monday.
What does tone mean? Is that like using a telephone?
Each squad and company has a unique two-part tone. Every member carries a pager that goes off when his/her squad/company's tone is sent out. The tone comes on, then a dispatcher comes on and gives the details and location of the incident.
