6.0 Tach Signal

On my Cummins swap I am going to machine slots in the edge of the water pump pulley to generate the necessary 58 pulses per engine RPM. I can't use the Destroked tach kit because I am using a 2007 CR harmonic balancer and the OD is too large for the Destroked tone ring. The Destroked sensor will work but it might be a little bulky and it doesn't look like they sell the sensor as a stand alone part. I talked to an electrical supplier about a prox sensor as a pulse generator and he wanted to know If I needed a NO or NC and also if the sensor is a NPN or PNP? Anybody know the answers?

I read in a thread that I could use the ford cam or crank sensors. I have looked closely at the 6.0 motor out of my truck and see no crank or cam sensors, where are they located?
Thanks
