Post F250 7.3L Turbo Transmission Overheating

I have a 95- F250, 7.3L Turbo Diesel. Should the transmission cooler blow fluid when it overheats, or is that a symptom of a blow seal?

I am pretty sure something will puke fluid if the tranny overheats. I thought it was from a vent on the tranny though, not the cooler. Anyone? Oh, and try a search with something like transmission and overheat. You may find what you are looking for.

I am having a hot tranny problem too. see my thread last week "e40d getting hot". I added a new B&M 28,000 gvw cooler and magnetic in-line filter this weekend but have not put the camper on yet to try it. I have never heard of a cooler that will purge when too hot, but SMB is right, the bottom of the tranny case has a small slot that will drain fluid if you cook it, mine did it once. If you have a guage, what temps does your tranny get to?

I have a 99 F250, auto transmission and I tow a 3800 lb trailer. My transmission overheats when I tow up a switch back. I am going about 20 mph for about 15 miles. I talked to the dealer about it and he said it is because the transmission radiator is air cooled not liquid cooled. At 20 mph I'm not getting enough air flow to cools things down. The dealer suggested a kit that Ford sells that runs the transmission oil through the air cooled radiator and then through the engine's radiator. It costs about $700. Has anyone else seen this problem? Is there another solution?

Thanks for the help

I put mine is 4 low (hubs unlocked) when in those towing conditions, less stress on the transmission.
