What crazy things have you found in YOUR old truck?!

$3.50. In 1970 weren't we in the throes of the OPEC oil embargo? If he filled his tank with, say, 16 gallons, that's about 22 cents a gallon. It had to be more than that per gallon. Maybe it was during the rationing days when you could only buy on certain days and there were long lines, so he bought what he could when he could so only bought 5 or 6 gallons.

I searched mine, and want to search again as a believe a gem may be hidden somewhere. I was hoping to find a silver dime or dollar. I collect "junk" silver.
What I did find was handfuls of candy rappers. I don't know if it was the same brand or not but they looked like these.
Peanut Butter Bars - 5 lb. - Candy Favorites
I don't know what the half life of cellophane is but these rappers would almost disintegrate upon contact, they were old.
I also found a stainless steel kitchen knife. Which I cleaned up, soaked in a little alcohol washed and put in the kitchen. Which was immediately demoted to a utility drawer by my mother.

My father purchased my 48 F-3 new and when I was in high school in the early 60's I used it on Sundays to haul a bunch of my friends to a lake in New Jersey to swim and meet girls......while restoring the seat in the late 90's I found an admission ticket to the lake

Found 2 company credit cards for the guys company in glove box, which he was thrilled to get back. Also on the original headliner he wrote everything he ever did to the truck . He owned the truck since 1957. It was so cool to see what he replaced and the date . Also he had a date and a girl's phone number....turns out that was when he met his wife for first time.

Got my 49 off the wife of the original owner. He had passed away about 15 years prior to me getting it, and she was sick of letting it sit in the back yard. When removing YEARS of dirt, rust, grease and god knows what else, I found a note that the owner had left in the truck. The note was to his wife, and it said "I miss you, and I cant wait to come home. I love you always and forever." It was signed "Ben" who was the original owner. TALK about GOOSEBUMPS! I immediately got back in my truck, and went to the lady's house. Who knows what she was thinking, because it was almost 11 months later, and I show up on her doorstep looking like a hobo. I showed her the note, and this poor lady lost it! It was a note from her husband he started to write while he was traveling. She was happy to have the note back, and I only asked for a copy. I figured the original was awesome, but it was more hers than it was mine.
