I narrowly escaped the rain this evening while sampling a train. Each car takes 6-7 minutes to load, and I had to sample roughly 30-40 cars.
As I was loading the sample bags in the work truck, it started to pour.
Rest of the night was in the lab, processing everything...

I got really bad news Thursday when I took the paperwork back to the office...
Apparently the guy that hired me, was a *******. When I turned my paperwork in, he told me that the company was letting me go because "Things were being rearranged, and they no longer needed me".
So yeah, I gave up a somewhat consistent job, and had to borrow the $50 to get my 8 refresher course, just to be able to go to work... And then they pull this crap on me, and now I'm just "Out".
So now, I'm going to have to sit back and regroup.

I don't think there is any aspect of the coal industry that gives a rodents behind about the employees. Never have, never will.
On another note: our "additional snow accumulation of less than one half inch expected" turned into two inches. Not as bad as the sixteen inch "dusting" of snow we got in 1998, but they still missed it.

After I went into the old storage trailer, I got my mom's old Cobra 89 GTL Base Station CB and D-104 Hand Mic out, my sinuses started flaring up like a hive of pissed off Hornets.
I found the plug had came loose, and resoldered it all back together, threw a fresh 9v battery in, and VOILA! It works like a charm (The mic only)
To elaborate, this Microphone has a LOT of sentimental value to me:
My grandmother paid around $100 for the mic alone, as a christmas gift to my mom (Mid-late 1970's) and it was the mic she used when she met my dad.
Safe assumptions aside, it isn't going anywhere fast.
I'm setting up a CB setup here at the house, and redoing the setup in my truck, and I thought it'd be nice to use it for nostalgia...lol
Hard to beat a good unit made in the U.S!
