Has anyone heard of a transit bus 460 having more hp than a truck 460? I have a 97 wirh a whipped engine....found one out of a 93 bus, but will it just plug up? Any thoughts....thanks

 

Are talking about something like a E350 or E450 bus? If anything id expect the truck engine to have a higher hp rating, not only is it a little newer, but public transit stuff tends to be designed to not encourage speed. Otherwise, the engine should be similar, maybe identical.......

 

I think the only difference might be with emissions, there might be no difference. It should plug in to your truck fine as long as the model years are in the same range.

 

Big commercial vehicles likely have a elongated crankshaft snout.
Check that first because none of the pulleys will align.

At least that was the case with older 429/460 engines.
If the 'transit bus' has all the same serpentine front dress you should be okay.

 

I called a buddy of mine, who works at a ford dealer. He said other than the intake being a little different it should bolt right in....ill let you how it looks...thank s

 

Two ac units, bigger alternator. ..bigger power stering pump. ..everything else is the same....
