7.3 a/c compressor pulley wrong size on all available replacements
Trying to swap out the compressor on the ex. The old one is the original that came with this truck when it was new. I bought a ford motorcraft replacement for it and the pulley is bigger by 5/8". Returned and bought a four seasons compressor. Same thing pulley is bigger. Compared to multiple other compressors at the dealership and all pulleys are bigger than original. Went to a parts warehouse called bumper to bumper and looked at well over a dozen aftermarket compressors and same problem. Did ford change the compressor pulley size mid year or something? Will the larger pulley fit my truck? Truck is on the rack right now holding up the mechanic and charging me every hour it sits. Need answer ASAP. Thanks

Everything I'm seeing in every catalog is 117mm clutch on the Excursion, 119mm on the trucks. That's is definitely not 5/8" difference. Now that is the actual clutch pulley, not the lip in front of it if any. 4S (58164) actually specs it in 4.5" which is ~115mm. Still not that much different. Where was the difference exactly?
EDIT:
Just looked up an f250 on 4S (58161), it has a 5 1/8" clutch, roughly 127mm. Someone is superseding the numbers as a will fit.
Here are some numbers that list the smaller clutch.

The belt may be too short, among other clearance issues, not sure. I'm not the one working on the truck. The compressor body itself is the same, just the clutch is different. Check the suppliers for the numbers I listed and see if they were ones that you bought. The pulley where the belt rides is the important part

Labor times are labor times. That's why we have them. You don't charge for wrong parts or late deliveries. That's just bad business. I didnt say it was illegal where you were, there are consumer protection laws in some states that specify they can only charge labor/book times or less. Not for actual time on the rack or on the lot. Now once the job is done that's a different story, they can charge you all the storage fees they want if you don't pick up in agreed upon time. I'm getting the feeling that this is a crooked shop and not to be trusted.
