It actually does great, I pull my 10,000 pound fifth with it all summer long and have no complaints at all, Now with that being said if I had to do it again I would have definitely looked at 4:56 but I am not paying to do it again..

Yea I hear ya, I'm so happy with my 4.30 combo id hate to ruin it with 35" tires...... Would love to get a 4" lift and 35's but I'm defiantly not spending another $2400 for 4.88 gears

I'm interested in seeing how everything works out. I already did all the wiring from when I put 03 mirrors on my truck, unfortunately my 2002 didn't have the necessary wires to just plug in. But last week my heater element went on the driver side mirror so it might be time to opt for the bigger mirrors.

One question:

Is this advisable on an '01 since the '02+ has more wiring capability?

Not entirely sure what you mean, my 02 had only 3 wires going to it for the mirror movement, i added the 03+ mirrors with head and turn signal/marker light and added the necessary wiring. It's possible to make it work and there are great write ups on how to do it.

the mirrors come with adapters to go to the older style trucks, since im sure you have heat and power right now you would just need to get power for the turn signals and marker lights not a huge issue.

well i got them on last night and all i can say is

first the fit and finish is equal or better than my OEM mirrors. I don't know if its a better design on the 08 up mirrors or just A1 Auto manufacture but the new mirrors DO NOT SHAKE when i'm driving like the 04 OEM tow mirrors i had. The mirrors have the same gauge wire as OEM but they have thicker cover on them to protect from chaffing. Even the foam that goes between the mirror and door is three times as thick so it should last the life of the truck unlike the cheap thing Ford had on my OEM mirror that literally crumbled into pieces when i took them off.
NOW the visibility is a billion times better than the 04 tow mirrors, the side mirror is a little odd right now because its square and has a different shape than the 04 mirror but im really liking it! THE SPOT MIRRORS ARE AMAZING!!!! They make the entire 04 tow mirrors look like this

im lost for words to how much i love these A1 mirrors

The more and more threads pop up with stellar reviews, the more and more i want to buy them.... I shouldn't... but i want to... and when that happens i usually end up with a box on the porch shortly after...
