Grill Replacement - 70-72 style to 67-69
I have been browsing around a bit trying to gather some information on 67'-72's, and I am wondering, will the grill of a 67'-69' easily fit onto a 70'-72' truck? I like the older bodystyle, (I have a 73'), but I don't like the grills on the 70'+.

I am actually doing that swap right now. All of the mounting points are the same in my 72 custom as a 69 ranger (its aluminum!!). I found it out in the boonies where I live. The guy had parked it because he had an electrical fire one day and never got around to fixing it, and someone stole his carb. The grill is PERFECT save for two dings and the piece around the pass. headlight. If I pull it off and give the guy mine, i get it for 25 bucks!! I am going this weekend to get it, so I will let you know how it all turns out. It seems pretty straight foreward.

Jeez, 25 bucks. That is great! However, for you and I, we will have to rely on eBay. I see them on there from time to time. Matter of fact, right now there is a really nice 67 polished aluminum grill but it's already up to $270. Also there's a good 68 that's up to $127. Both auctions have a day to go. So... you can get them but you gotta pay the price. Good luck.

When my '72 was stolen and stripped a few yrs ago, one of the items removed was the grill. 2 months later when I got the truck back I had lots of stuff to replace. Didn't have the $ for new grill, so went to hardware shop and bought some 3/4" aluminum square stock, plastic end caps and some flat stockfor brackets. With that and some sweat, I have a tubular grill that everyone asks- where did you get that? Looks better than stock I'm told.

I scored! Well, sort of. I went to the bone yard today and found a 68 or 69 F100. It had a super straight painted grill. I tossed the headlight doors because someone chromed them and they had cancer. The grill had some surface rust on the back side. No big deal. For $30, I didn't care. I haven't decided yet, but I may swap out the aluminum grill on my 67 and put it on my 71. Only thing is that the 67 grill has a slight twist in it, but still very presentable. I just need to find some headlight doors to make the painted grill complete.

I'm pumped; I've been missing the '67 look ever since I lost it and replaced it with the '68. Now if only I could find a set of '67 doors... Sure miss those funky door handles!

Like to give you guys a shot of my '72 "tube grill", but don't have the hardware to get it on here yet. Anything looks better than that stock grill that lets you see every bolt and wire behind it. The polished alum looks good, but some day I might take it out and have it chromed.

I e-mailed the seller on that one, thought it was chrome it was so shiny... wrote me back that it was just polished aluminum. Guess I'll have to just get out there and polish mine.
Did y'all know that there are places that will chrome plate aluminum?
