Newbie here with C900 ? or two
I've got a 1969 C900 firetruck & the brakes have frozen the adjusters in the rear Everyone I've called for loaded backing plates wants to know what brand of brakes came on it or any #'s on them
Do any of you have an idea where to buy the brake parts for it?
Thanks ahead Bob

Sounds like a good plan, but you still need to figure out what size brakes you have as the backing plate will vary with the different sizes.
No reason to try to source loaded 15" backing plates if you have 16" drums, or visa versa. UPS would have known what brakes it spec'd on its trucks and sourced compatible units from Ford which made it easy as I am sure that UPS had a certain "UPS standard" that it spec'd its trucks to, but who know what fire department spec'd what combination?
And to add a bit more to the pot, there are two different brand brakes used. The size of brake should help determine the manufacture.
I would think that any parts professional that is used to medium and heavy trucks would start with this basic info and go from there? There just is no standard here, it is all in how that particular truck was spec'd out when built.
I do have the Ford parts manual and will help as I can, but absolutely nothing can be done until the brake size is nailed down, at least thru Ford.

Column right, 2nd entry: Here's the rear brake application charts for 1970/72 C900's.
To determine rear axle capacity, the AXLE code is stamped on the Warranty Plate, located on the inside of the glove box door, or on the left door face below the latch.
Post what the code is and the size of the brake shoes. Also post the VIN .. once decoded will verify what series the truck is...and what year it is.
