2013 Ford F150 3.5 Ecoboost MPG?
#47
I have a 5.0 and have been following this thread because it was a toss up between the EB and 5.0. I got the 5.0 simply because the rebates were better. So far, the 5.0 seems much better with mileage than most of your reports, that bums me out because I figured I would go EB in a few years. Do you think the EB suffers from the winter blend more than the 5.0? Or does it just hate the cold? Curious to your thoughts all..

Also, this is a SCrew cab, full of sound deadening, leather, woodgrain, power running boards, etc. It's tipping in just under 6100lbs (I wont reveal my payload ).
But seriously, winter blend is never friendly. My 2006 would lose 1-1.5 mpg on winter blend.

Well, I'm feeling pretty optimistic. I just bought a F150 platinum with the ecoboost engine. Right off the bat I am getting around 15mpg in stop and go traffic. I finally got it out on the highway this weekend, set the cruise at 65mph and I got just over 19mpg. Needless to say, I can't wait till the summer and when the engine is broken in!!

Fellas,
** MPG Update ** 07/14/2014
Went with my buddies for a drinking... uh, fishing weekend get away.
Drove about 80 miles one way most all highway. The outside temp was about 90 degrees with high humidity, meaning I had the A/C on the whole trip. Four guys in the cab and all our gear in the truck bed. The highway MPG read at 24.2!
WOW! I love my new truck. Always puts a smile on my face when my buddies say, "Jonesy you have a nice truck".

This is a bit old since it was from my vacation a month ago, but here's a (bad) picture of my trip meter from Cody, WY and to Jackson, WY with a week of driving around Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons National Park. The Ecoboost will suck down fuel on the up-hill climb, but the deceleration fuel cutoff more than makes up for it on the down-hill sections. The parks also have speed limits of 35-45 mph which really helped as well as being no where near as windy as I'm used to in Iowa, Minnesota, and the Dakotas.
And here's the first 80 miles getting out of Yellowstone through Montana with about 40 miles of that being at 70 on the way to Billings, MT. It's kind of cheating since we left from Mammoth Hot Springs and it's a good 30 miles of down hill driving, so despite the higher speeds, we were cruising pretty well.
Also note that I'm using 91 octane, straight (no ethanol fuel) for the whole trip. The trip computer was checked against hand calculations on the fills and they're both with a few tenths.
Edit:
It's kind of fun to see the MPG gauge almost peg out. It's also nice seeing 800+ miles left on the tank (ended up getting just under 20 MPG for the tank after getting back to ND at 80+ mph to beat a storm).

AAAHHH Yes! I do remember towing with my old 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel. It also got about 10mpg when towing.

But anywho.....kudos to him for averaging 2.2 MPGs more than the EPA ratings on the window sticker.

You can do that with the instant MPG screen, but the Trip A/B screens don't lie. Trip A/B shows how many miles traveled to get that average.
