Has anyone else noticed today is Dec.7th?..........

I'm not sure, but I believe something in old dusty history books says something happened today back in 1941.

 

I remember Dave...... My dad and 3 uncles were in WWII and I do remember. I also said a prayer for the souls lost on this date. I for one, will never forget.....

 

I do not much look at the date , Did not even realize today was Dec. 7th . My Father was in WWII . Radio operator in the Air Corps , stationed somewhere in the Pacific , Azores ? I do not remember . He passed in 98 ,aged 78 . He did not talk much about the war .My ex wife's uncle was a POW though , he had some stories ....

 

Today was my Grandmother's Birthday.
She spent three years interred in a Japanese prison camp in the Philippines.

I wouldn't be here if not for MacArthur.

 

Sadly, not much in the news.

 

I'm sure Miley Cyrus, Lindsey Lohan, and college football are MUCH more worthy of comment by the media.

 

Sad ... True though .

 

I was distraught that Dec 7th got very little attention today.

 

" December 7th a date that will live in infamy..." FDR. I guess infamy had a time limit, huh.

 

Looks like only a few of us FTE old-timers seem to even remember.....

Our local news had NO mention of it.

"Those who forget history, are doomed to repeat it."

 

Remind me again why flags are flying at half staff???

 

Aptly already mentioned is the ilk of Lindsay, Miley and of course the all time massively important football events are seemingly occupying the average American's rather pathetically short attention span. I mean why hurt our brains remembering how such BS as the above can even exist when we can instead fixate on meaningless "celebrities" and their non-stop dramas?

I mean come on---it's like we're expected to remember how we got here and actually appreciate those who struggled to assure us all this!

 

Actually, it's for Nelson Mandela...........By order of the POTUS.

 

Truly a shame, that very little was mentioned, on/in any news broadcasts, especially since December 7th was and is so significant to us and our history.

But when we are gone, it will truly BE history!

As for ACTUAL Pearl Harbor survivors, there are only a handful, like the rest of the WWII generation, they will all be gone in a couple of years.

Then it can be relegated to the dust-bin of useless historical tid-bits.
