Question Need part number for shifter arm bushings

Need to replace the rubber bushings on the selector arms bolted to the transmission (3-speed column shift). NOT the bushings on the arms on the column, those are C5TZ-7343-A and I know from someone else who bought them that they are different than the ones on the transmission arms (C5TZ-7343-A is too small). Anyone?

I picked 1968 just as a guess. The number for those is C5TZ7343C.

I can't find that part number anywhere online, whenever I search, the results substitute a letter A for the C at the end, and that's the part that I know won't fit. My truck is a 1970.

For 1970 I do not show rubber down there. I can't see clearly in this old Ford micro-fische slide. But it looks like there is supposed to be adjustment sleeves at that end of the rods which are mounted directly in to the levers via washers and spring washers or small non-rubber bushings.

There is rubber, one of mine is missing half the rubber, makes it hard to get into gear sometimes.

Try either B7AZ7343A if it's a 4x4 OR C3TZ7343A if it's a 4X2. Two dealers show as having ONE each so you can have them look at the parts over the phone and figure out if they will work.

Klimesh Motor Co in IA.....563-562-3241

Green Sales in OH shows 2 of each. They are usually expensive and good luck getting them to look at the part for you. 1-800-543-4959.

It's a 2WD. Found this post from earlier this year https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post13608256 that shows parts illustration. The "GEAR SHIFT LINKAGE-3 SPEED" illustration for the 3-speed light duty trans shows bushings on the transmission shift arms, but doesn't break down their part numbers like it does for the column end. Maybe Ford never sold them as service parts, forcing someone who needs them to buy the complete lever with bushings attached? That would be 7285 for the 2/3 arm and 7290 for the R/1 arm. I found a R/1 arm on Ebay, auction number 390461783655, but it's for a dentside (D3TZ-7290-A) and doesn't have the bushing like mine does. Are 7285 & 7290 available anywhere? Dennis Carpenter has them for 1957-64 but not for anything newer.

I had the same problem. I searched everywhere and could find nothing. I went to Lowe's and bought a rubber grommet. I it was the right size just to thick. I cut/sanded it down to make it work. I used a C clip on the out side of the arm. It seems to be working fine. I don't know for how long though. It may last or it may not, only time will tell. Good luck.

If I can't find the parts I need, think i'll take it to my local machine shop and have some made from brass.

What you're saying makes perfect sense. That is what I gathered also yesterday. But Ford's slide doesn't tell me this. All it lists is the levers but makes no mention of any bushings. I am assuming the rubber is trapped in the levers by pressed together washers. For 65-72 Ford changed the 7285 and 7290 basic numbers to 7302 and 7303. So the complete part numbers were C5TZ7302C (2/3) and C5TZ7303B (R/1).

C5TZ7303B. Call these. They show it in stock.

C5TZ7302C.
Nobody shows it.

Here's what I ended up doing, had a local machine shop make me some out of solid brass. It's a 2 pieces bushing that is pressed together, but it still spins in the shift arm. I'm going to try to remember to lube them when I change my oil.

No such part number and the 3 M/T trans selector levers do not have replaceable bushings, as they were only furnished with the levers.

ericknight: Do you see a part number for trans selector lever bushings in this pic? You don't...because there was no such thing.

I don't know if that's valid part number or not, but I can assure you 100% without a doubt that the selector levers do in fact have bushings!

Open your peepers and take a look-see at the pic in post 12.

I see a bushing on 7285 & 7290, just like my truck had.
