You live in one of the most difficult states to deal with re: missing paperwork. I would suggest you deal with it before you put another minute or dollar into it. You may never be able to license or drive it.
Yes you are correct, Kalifornia DMV can be a pain in the a$$. It has not been registered in such a long time it should be out of the "System", and a bill of sale with a signed declaration stating it has not been on a public HWY should work, it has in the past for me. (Maybe I have just been lucky)
On another note, I got to hear it run today New plugs, wires, points, condenser, and rebuilt carb. This is going too smooth, waiting for something to throw a wrench in the works, might be DMV.
Since I now have this project, I will be selling my old one... 1947 ford two door coupe, I will get the info posted in the Marketplace, PM me if you have any questions on the 47.
Again Awesome site
Edit: just tried to place an add, I must not have enough posts or something, the site wouldn't let me?

Yes, I believe you need 10 posts before they let the genie out of the bottle and let you place ads, use advanced search, send PMs and emails etc. I'm not sure if they will allow a non truck ad tho.
Please forgive me for the next question, how can I tell what motor I have, I know its a straight six, but the local auto parts store shows a couple different motors. Second possible dumb question, where are you folks finding parts, such as water pumps, fuel pumps, Etc..
Add my welcome. The correct six cylinder for 1952 is the OHV 215. First year for it. General repair parts are available at Napa and other common parts stores. There are some special pieces that can be hard to find if you're worried about it being as original. Here are pictures of mine. Stu

Damn! that is pretty and a 4x4. My engine has a remote oil filter mounted on the passenger inner fender and I do not have the water jackets on the water intake or discharge, would that still be the 215?
That's not helping me a lot. The thermostat housing honestly looks like it would on a 215. Pics of the other side with dizzy location, and exhaust manifold where it dumps into the exhaust pipe would tell us if it's a later 223. Stu
I should have noted, its a video, not a great one but I do pan to the other side of the motor. Click on the picture and it will take you to my photo bucket.
