Dana 41 in a 56 ?

Hi guys

A nother thread lead me into looking closer to the rear axel i have just taken out, still have the picture in the phone, will fix that this afternoon so you can see it aswell, but itīs not a DANA 44 thatīs for shure. I did some googling and it looks very similar to the DANA 41.

So now to the question, was these available in 56 or did they all got Dana 44, which means some prior owner has done a swap?

thanks in advance.

Left: 1948/52 F1 (C) / Right: 1953/56 F100 Spicer (Dana) 44 (C).

1959/67 F100, some 1968 F100's: If optional Limited Slip (L/S) was ordered, FoMoCo usually installed Dana 44 rear axles, as 9's in F100's weren't available w/L/S until mid-year 1968.

But, there were two others: Dana 60.2 with L/S optional in 1963/66 F100's, Dana 60.3 with L/S optional in 1966/68 F100's. Flanges: 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle.

Dana 60.2 & 60.3 are not Dana 60's that were only installed in F250's. Have 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.
