Would A 300 I6 Work Well In A 1962 Ford F100?

I have a 62 Flareside, it has a 350 Chevy, but I have thought about putting it back to a Ford drivetrain by throwing in a Ford V8 or a 300 I6, the 6 would give good mpg and it would give it a factory look and lots of torque. Any opinions are welcome.

Tastefully modded, the 300 would even give the old truck an "old school" hotrod appeal.
Yes, it would work as well in a 62, as it did in the 65-96 models.

I swapped out my 223 I6 & Merc-O-Matic in my '58 Merc M-100, for a '70, 300 I6 & C-4. So there you go.
