Got my coolant today. Advance auto's 30% off coupon for the win. Place the order, get the discount, pick it up at the store. Ended up getting 4 gallons for $44 with the discount. One small step closer.

Sorry Nate, 2 days ago I was stepping off the plane onto US soil! I've been sleeping pretty much ever since!

I did all three trucks using that exact same deal; impossible to beat.

It sure is tough to know what the best stuff to use is. There are so many options out there and there just isn't enough information about what works in the long term to really know what is effective. I'll be sticking to Oshpo, Red Oxide primer, and a good quality enamel topcoat for this one. I have heard from several people that it does a good job, and is economical. I've done some work with this process (minus the Ospho) and had good results in the past as well, so I'm going to give it a shot on this go round. Even if it lasts a few years and buys me some time, I'll be happy. I think it should hold up pretty well, though.

Well, I think the big thing is, as long as the prep and rust remover/dissolver works like it should, then that's the big thing right?

I imagine with any prep work, the environment and following the directions for that product are key to any success.

Made some pretty decent progress today. The wife and girls were gone today so it was just bubby and me. Kind of nice hanging out in the shop with him and having him get into "my world" for a while. I let him drill some holes with the drill press and got him involved in the project a bit.

We got my mounting brackets for the IC finished up and bolted in.

Also, say no to crack.

Fired up the ol' spatter maker and burned those cracks shut, then blended and flattened. I really need to get a better welder than the one I have, but it's tough to justify the cost when I could be spending those dollars about a dozen different ways that are more important.

Finished the holes for the IC and sprayed on some paint to keep everything from getting rusty.

All cleaned up and ready for reassembly (after the paint dries).

I had a few minutes after that was done so I started cleaning up my E99 spider and pipes. I really wanted to start throwing the front end back together, but I fought the temptation and let the paint dry.

Really, I need to just leave the front end alone until I get the frame done. Having it open like it is makes it a lot easier to get to everything. Next up is backing it out of the shop again so I can wash down the rest of the frame, tanks, skids, bumpers, etc so I can prep for paint. Slowly but surely. Now, I think it's time to hang out with my boy and do something he likes. We will likely end up either playing Star Wars video games, or watching one of the movies. That's what he's into now, so that's what we do together when I want to get into "his world".

Good luck with all the painting Nate. I just had my trailer painted and ended up using black frame paint on it from the local body shop. Por15 seemed a little high for something that would end up getting scratch up. Anyway my wife says it needs a top coat too cause the frame paint looks bad haha. I just wanted something tuff on there.

Looking good Nate! I am inspired to do something with mine, just don't know what yet. Maybe just drive it until?? I need the time and not sure what I am going to do first. I will say that the ped delete I just did was really worth it to me. I checked my valley yesterday and it is clean and dry once again, so that feels good.

When are you planning on being done with the install? Is it a winter project or something you were trying to get done sooner?

Thanks Byron. We have a camping trip planned for Memorial Day weekend so I am going to shoot for having it done no later than a week before that so I can drive it to work for a while and shake out any bugs that come up.

I'm really tempted to pull the core support so I can paint the whole thing, but I have got to quit taking things apart if I'm ever going to get this thing done. I still e-fuel to do yet as well.

Yeah, I hear 'ya. I've got IC piping to finish, e-fuel to install, a frame to paint, a truck to reassemble, camper repairs to make, firewood to cut and split, AND I'm taking 6 credit hours of college classes right now (looking at maybe taking 15 HRS this summer). I must be out of my mind. Lol.

My wife can't figure out why I can't just sit still.

Sitting around isn't any fun Nate! Looks good what your doing. I got my new IC in today, its about a inch wider then the stock one so I had to cut and grind stuff. I'm happy the hood latch works, LOL
