Devin, OBDII testing is coming to VA. According to an inspector in Stuart, where I take my trailer.
It's in NY for all 1996 and newer vehicles.

In NY, the State is finding out the OBDII is working so well that the "sniffer" test won't be required. Here the state is going to have a new outfit to "manage" the inspections. New machines estimate range from $2-4000 . The registration is scanned (NY has it placed on the windshield) and the machine plugged in the OBDII port. The scan will also tell if there are any wants or warrants on the vehicle, such as unpaid parking tickets.
"Big Brother" is coming to a state near you.
SOunds like it George. We use to have 3 different tests here in MD just for emisions. Pre 76 just got the sniffer. 76 to 96 got the treadmill and anything newer then 96 was obdII. Now it is just the sniffer test for pre OBDII and the OBDII test for emissions.
