I have a carbide torch for one , at least I use to I don't remember seeing it in several years, but know I didn't sell it. They were quite a deal. They provided instant heat. The torch moved the carbon rods together and then opened it back up slightly and they lit. It is the same principal the old WWII search lights used. They used carbon rods. The torches would heat so fast you could just clamp the rods on a nut and they transferred heat so fast the nut would glow red in about 2 seconds and you could hold the bolt 3 inches away in your hand. They were great for removing rusted on nuts, much better and faster than using a gas torch.
The forney welders were sold by salesmen that actually went door to door back in the 60's out in the country demonstrating to farmers on their farms.
I had a friend back in the 60's that worked for them and sold them. You are also correct on the battery chargers. They has 6 volt/8 volt and 12 volt plugs and a 40 amp booster for starting

Well, I had to go get another piece of steel dug out of my eye today.
RC. It was good to see ya' today. I'll have the shop in better order the next time you come up.
Jeff. (and everyone else) Keep in mind I want this to be a HOTROD shop, first and foremost. I'll do repair work, but that won't be my focus.

Well dangit Alan, ya know safety glasses are cheaper than a trip to the emergency room, duh? They even have cool looking one now days.
So if I bring you a trailer full of parts you can build it huh?
This was the color of my old one, but not quite the condition....or the $$

Good morning boys and girls.
Last week was another fun-filled, no rest for the wicked, mile a minute adventure. Wifey ended up about five miles from Rich and Penny's place, but didn't get to go say hello. (Had to rescue a teenager from Collins...)
All is well, kinda tired and fussy.
First cup of coffee....

Good Morning Everybody!
Rich. Drop off the parts and the shell and I'll build you what you wanted.
Jeff. Same thing for you.
I'm taking a lazy Sunday morning sipping coffee and eating a Tastykake Krimpet. (snack cake from back east I used to love as a kid) Then I'm gonna load up my wood saws and cordless drill and go build some benches and try to get some order in the new shop. I'll try to get some pictures, too.

Thanks Alan, I will let you get your projects completed and get the shop up and running. My projects have been setting around long enough, they can set around some more.
But if and when you have some down time (yea right) I have some things I would like a hand with. All in due time, I hope the hot rod shop is a great success and it makes you famous.

my truck that is supposed to get "decent" gas mileage is running under 10 mpg in town. I was expecting closer to 15. Its a 89 f150 extended cab 5 speed 2 wd am i being unrealistic in my expectations? I think my 77 4x4 with the carbed 302 and 4 speed actually may have gotten a little better then this thing. Granted i have been running the a/c in it but i didn't think it would drop it that much. On 15ish gallons i can run 135 (on a good day i usually refill about 110) miles before the truck cuts out. Mostly in town driving
