Raw fuel smell

Well well well. They called and told me it was in, so I went up there and the part he pulled out didn't even look close to what I needed.
So we went out and looked and as it turned out they ordered the wrong part. It was going to cost another 135 buck on top of the 210 they had already charged me (and they raised the price twice before that, just shows their incompitence even more) So they are going to credit me back and I told them to forget it.
fordman67 I'll pm you about that. I'll send pics if need be.
I guess their parts guy was out of town last week, he was shocked that the person who ordered the part (the dealership owner) never even bothered to get the vin from me. Which was stupid on my part as well.
Ok I'm done venting. (Thank you if you made it this far!) I seem to have it under control for now, but I'm still catching a whif of fuel every now and again. So I don't know how long my bandaid is going to hold.

I'm just curious now, why not JB weld it since you are just putting in a plug and have no intention of pulling it out again? And if you are prepared to replace the thing anyway, then why not give it a shot. As long as you let it set up right and don't get it sucked in anywhere, then it seems to me a viable solution. Just thinkin out loud.

Heres what I do know, the plug I put in made it leak worse, it sprayed right out the bottom (where the suspected crack is) , the only thing that made it quit was when I put pink teflon on the sensor and put it back in. It seems to be holding for now. I didn't want to tighten the plug any more, whe it was in, and I got the sensor as tight as I dare.
I knew there would be hurdles along the way, dealing with a high mileage vehicle. Its all part of the learning process. Doesn't mean I have to like it lol. Glad I have a resourse to lean on. I would be completley lost with out you guys. Thanks!
