I found a version of the Gotts Mod on here, using the F-250 snorkel tube to to open up the breathing a bit on the F-150.
Very simple 10 mins. Direct fit. Only cost $5.
Throttle response is improved a little and seat of the pants feels a bit stronger on launch. Here are some pics.

And do you have to modify the fender well or anything else on the truck to accommodate the larger diameter snorkel?

Was the Donor F-250 Gas/diesel? What year? Good idea... I think the tube keeps out hotter, under hood air, and also forces the intake to draw air from a "cleaner" area, under the fender than under the hood.

The tube is for a 2005-2010 F-250 6.8 liter V-10.

The benefit of the tube is to pull in cooler/cleaner air from the behind the fender well which is separated from the engine compartment by a piece of heavy duty rubber sheet (once you take the air filter box off you will see it) vs the hotter engine compartment air. Also the tube helps to protect against road grime, leafs, and moister from heavy rain and snow ect....

Nothing had to be modified it is a direct & perfect fit. The 2011 and up 5.0's and EcoBoosts come stock with the larger tube from factory.

Hey D8chumley....I had custom 5 Star tunes for my V-10. They were awesome. How much did they improve your 5.4. I also have a 2010 5.4 & need to do something to wake this hog up!. Were the tunes worth the $$$$

Yes they were, especially for the shifting. Mike is on the money with his tunes. I would recommend him to anyone, and his customer service is awesome as well

Where did you find your donor snorkel? I dropped by the dealer today while in the area, and they wanted $120+ for one. Junk yard?

its the got's mod all over again.
with all the holes in the side of its tube/ snorkel there's tons of hot motor compartment air getting in there, so I don't see any real advantage. and hod do you get it in the inner fender? cut hole biger or a flush nount? Plus in the newer trucks don't you loose the lower end power and only gain about .5 to 1 HP plus it eats up MPG I heard.
just playing devils advocate I am not trying to **** in any ones Wheaties!

Maybe just the "feel good" factor (lol) knowing that there is something there to replace old tube. For $5 its worth it to upgrade to a bigger better tube to what the 2011's & up come with stock from factory. It is a direct fit to the fender. If you take off your air box you will see how it fits. Gained a little low end/ launch of the line & throttle response has improved a bit. Nothing real spectacular, but its only $5 bucks. My MPG has not budged either way after 3 tanks. Not sure about the holes in the tube....something to do with under 20 mph & how the suction works... not sure but still minimal heat from engine compartment. But again only $5 for nothing but positives. Can't beat that for $5

The Motorcraft air filter is MORE than adequite to meet/exceed any intake air flow requirements for a non-uber mod'ed N/A engine.

Any increase in air flow comes at the expense of filtration.
