What are you guys doing for U-bolt plates after swapping in a 60 front?

I have the original lower plates, but rockauto only sells one size square U bolt, and I know I need different sized ones. Thinking about just converting it to a top plate that sits on top of the spring. Any one have the measurements for what I need? Normally I'd just start measuring and building, but I'm not by the truck.

Just make some that go on top. Its better that way because you dont have the bolts hanging down.
This was a pic posted by a member ages ago that I havent seen on the forums for a long time.

I used the u bolt flip kit from WFO Concepts. Worked just fine. Had to clearance the drivers plate a little to clear the stock steering arm. I will be going to crossover soon. Crossover will clear with no issues.

I think ruff stuff specialties also sells the u bolts and plates you would need. I've ordered from them, their stuff is good. Customer services can be lacking.

WFO is 20 miles from ruff stuff and has excellent customer service and shipping.

I flipped one side but wasn't willing to cut the gusset on the driver side and lose all that strength. Did you guys cut your gusset?

Yep. Cut the gusset. I didn't really want to do it but I've seen it done on plenty of crawlers. I wanted to drill just a hole in the gusset but there is no way to flip the u bolt up without bending the u bolt to clear the spring pad. A 5/8" u bolt would be a pain to bend without heat.

I have the originals, and some spares incase I ever need them. I like the one pic with a freshly greased king pin. probably 2 tubes of blue gard 500 there. That upper king pin should last really long.

saw my originals tonight. Turns out all the bolts are the same size. I'll just buy the stockers size the axle is only in the truck temporarily.

i cut the web, jumped the **** out of my bronco for years and never had a problem with alignment or getting axles back in for what its worth. I used the ruff stuff plates i believe, i think i had to enlarge the holes for the inner bolt on the driver side plate to accommodate the ~4" diameter housing width. they worked great.

I just used 1/2" thick steel plate & drilled holes. There were 2 different size U bolts needed & I ordered those from Ruff stuff. If I remember right the 1 larger u-bolt that goes closest to the pumpkin on the driver side was 3.5" and the remaining 3 were 3.25". Been a few years since I did this though so my numbers may be off.

Here's a couple pics of mine - they're not hard to make. It I was all fancy like I'd stick them on a mill & do pockets/ribs like lightweight aerospace stuff for bling points, but I was lazy.
