Bed Liner on Running Boards?

New to F100s. I know this is already here but I looked through a dozen pages and didn't see it. Anyone putting bed liner, like Rhino or Line-X on their running boards?

Over the last ten years I have seen this on several trucks. It is a good idea. Especially if there will be little kids around stepping on them. Jag

Put it on my running boards. They were in rough shape, and it was a great option for me. I used the stuff that comes in a rattle can.

bed linner

I did the spray on liner. A shop did both boards for $100 They came out real well and are not slippery. The truck is now 5 years on the rebuild and they still look good, after 25000 miles.

that's what I'm going to do. and I've heard you can paint over it but no idea if it matters what kind of paint. My truck project has a low budget, my grill is black, and I'm going with black steel wheels so I'm going to leave the running boards black too.

I am using bedliner on my boards, Upol Rapture. I am old enough that i need the boards to get in and out and there is no need to scratch up some pretty paint.

Works good, seems like it will last a long time. Missy Green has it and she gets worked. Slick painted running boards are accidents waiting to happen.

Roll on bed liner
is the best for running boards
10 years later looks great
and you can step on them
painted ones you can only step on them one time

I like the idea, especially the color of the truck.

I'm also thinking of having the insides of the fenders coated with bed liner, just where they are in the line of fire from rocks coming off the tires.

Anybody else tried that?

If you look closely at the pic of the blue truck you will see that the FG rear fenders have been coated on the inside with Rhino lining. Some of the products available today can be tinted but this truck has had the bed liner painted with the same paint as the sheetmetal. There is an adhesion promoter that is recommended if you intend to paint over the bed liner...this truck has been on the road for about 4 years now and the paint still looks great.

I used it for the bed and running boards and did it in a color matching. My bed was a little rough and I wanted to keep all the original sheet metal so it also helped out in hiding small imperfections. I build my truck to be a driver and I did not want to worry about telling my friends "dont step on the running boards.

I did. I'm sure it helps some, but I still have some "rock stars" showing up in my fenders. I think putting it on really thick, or using rubberized undercoating over it would help. Not living on a gravel road would help too......

I was thinking of putting it just on the raised ridges.
