77 Ranchero, 351M, what intake?

Have two Ranchero's, one a 75, 351W and the newest the 77, almost totally restored, but question for anyone.
Will a Holley Dominator 4 bl intake fit on a 351M?

Welcome to FTE.

Looking at Holley, Summit and Jegs, I do not find an Holley intake to fit anything other than a 302. Do you have a line on an intake that is supposed to fit the 400/351M?

Secondly, what for? The 351M has low compression that pretty much limits the performance potential to anything other a mild upgrades, and those require a cam change. If what I read is correct, the Dominator is a high end performance manifold, not something really usable on a 351M.

Not looking for high end performance, if I wanted that would just buy a crate motor and tweek it.
Picked up the Holley last winter, without doing research. It is for a 351 from the early days. Do to the 351M using 400 heads makes me concerned it would fit.

Passenger Car/F100/350 & Bronco: All 351M's and 400's came with 2V carbs.

Thanks, but I know that. What I am doing is putting a 4 bl intake and 600 cfm 4 bl on the car. Does a Windsor 351 intake work on a 351M motor?

You need to do a little more basic research.

--351W heads will fit only with substantial modifications, and this is generally not done. (351C heads to 351W had some following, but again, requires mods) And if you did, the 351W manifold would not bolt up without adapter plates due to the deck height differences between the engines)

--351M and 400 heads (and everything else except the crank and pistons) are the same.

If it is for a 351W, sell it.

Plenty of dual plane 4bbl manifolds for the 351M/400:

Thanks, that was what I thought, but wanted a bit of input. My experience years ago was with 289 and 302's, so been 40 years and sort of lost, never played with the 351's as far as doing any mod's.
Guess I need to go shopping.

40 years ago I had a '65 Mustang with a 289. Those engines were 9.5 or 10 CR, depending on what you had. "Spirited" motors, my 2bbl with 9.5 CR would run to 5500 RPM with a slightly bigger 2bbl carb. (off a 390)

Those were the days.

Enter the 351M. My grandfather had one in an LTDII. It shifted at 3500 RPM at WOT. Low compression, weak cam, they are just a pooch. Add the cranky carb that Ford could never fix to his satisfaction....but I digress. It ran well over 200,000 miles in the hands of my careless and abusive siblings after we had to take old gramps off the road.....but I digress further.

You can wake your 351m from it's slumber with a cam and the 4bbl intake. IMO, even spending your money for you, that's as far as I'd go with a 351M. The real secret to "fixing" these motors is a 400 crank and a set of 9.3 or 9.5 pistons. The following links are all things 400/351M.

Good luck with your Rancheros.
