Sooooo.... Detroit declaired bankruptcy?

How does everyone feel about this? Saw it coming? End of an era? Possible to come back from?

When a city or state or federal goverment goes through decades of the policticans giving away all the revenues to get voted in to office, there is no money to keep the infrastructure in place.
Excessive entitlements to get votes, sucomming to the one race's demands, and of which many did not contribute, just took, did not work, did not pay taxes, did not contribute to the community, for decades, this is the result.
I don't "like to pay taxes", but that is what is needed to keep any services we all take for granted, operating.
I realize that fact, so bitch as I may, I pay the taxes so the water dept, the streets, etc depts operate. Take away the tax dollars and things fail.
Don't pay taxes, don't contribute to that infrastructure, and one day the situation as Detroit has been placed in, will happen everytime.
Be it Detroit, or Greece, or Portugal, etc, and few others that are on the edge.
When the bucket is "empty", the water is no longer there.
We who understand this, are the ones that put the water in the bucket.
Too bad that so many think that "everything is free because I expect it to be free" are walking the earth.

I hope they just privatize the state and let Ford or Chevrolet buy it. The government can use the cash, the companies can make cottage industry and we can learn from our mistakes.

Sorry guys, this isn't the forum for that discussion.

Anything even remotely political in nature can be talked about in The Club, but you have to be a supporting member in order to access The Club forum. I'd move this thread there but the only two people who have posted in this thread wouldn't be able to access it once moved.

Anyway, sorry, but this thread has to be locked.

Stewart
