hub removal 1996 f350

changing rotor and can not figure how to get it out.
Pulled cover and retaining clip.
How do I get the hub out to get to the nut holding rotor on?
Trying to post pictures but it won't let me.

You need to post your photos in your gallery on this forum or at Photobucket/SuperMotors/etc. then use the Insert Image button, point it to where your photos are located (online), then post.

It looks like you need one of these:

Many places rent them such as Auto Zone, Advance Auto, etc.

Autozone has a pretty good rental tool pool. They should have one.

Youre not the only one... I have seen countless posts on here about people having trouble finding the right size one... Some have had to use the "wrong size" to get it to fit...

I wish someone could get a straight answer as to what fits what and make a sticky out of it... I gotta pull mine apart one day, but have no idea which tool I'll end up needing!

It looks to me like you are not to the retaining nut yet. There are 2 snap rings, one on the axle and one on the inner side of the wheel hub. Remove both of those and the hub will slide right out. I like to thread in one of the screws from the coveer to give me a little handle to pull it out. After you get that out you will see the retaining nut.

You removed your Cap for the hub and WHAT snap ring? The one on the axle stub (small one 1.5")or the one that goes in the very out edge of the hub(Large one(approx 3.5" )

All trucks have the large snap ring.
SOME truck have the small one.
Either way, there can be NO snap ring in there if you want the hub body to come out.

THEN you will need a spindle socket. Manual hubs use a 4 pin style

AUTO hubs use a 2-3/4" socket

I took out the large spring. It does not look like there is the smaller spring. I am have issues finding a spindle socket big enough.

I did not realize you still had the hub lock parts on the spindle. I recall sourcing my socket at O'reillys for my old 1992 F350.
