If your trying to keep cost down, get an S465/83/.90.. That'll prevent you from buying a wastegate, it's a fairly priced turbo, and you can either use the money saved on the wastegate to go to hybrids or stay with 180/100s and leave the money in your wallet to buy new back tires after your test drive.
So what would you say an estimated amount of power i would be putting to the rearwheels with the stage 2s and how quickley will the s465 be spooling?

And its a goodthing i work at a tireshop!

Btw thanks alot for all this info!

I made 460hp on fuel only with 160/100s and the S465 and 518 on water/methanol. So you might make 470-480ish on fuel if the extra 20cc helps you. I am live tuned though, so tuning could even cause you to drop to 450ish.

Like I told you, it won't spool very quickly in 2nd.. 2nd gear it will spool around 2500 @ WOT running empty. Towing maybe 2200-2300 in 2nd. In 3rd it will come alive around 2000-2200 depending on load and EGTs. 4th 2000 RPM again depending on load and EGT it could spool earlier or later. 5th you can have it spooled by 1700-1800 RPM at times depending on how low of RPM you get into it. You can cruise at 2000 RPM towing at 10-25psi up hills no problem. In a hot tune I can see 1400* WOT. Towing I've yet to see more than 1100*, but I have also yet to pull any more than 14,500lbs gross.

Ya, I've hit 33 on the stocker before too. It won't live long at those numbers though, hence why I have a bigger one.

Power levels, Travis can help you there. I'm not sure at what levels you need to get into the bottom end. Mine is probably about 400 at the rear wheels.

Anyone got a good place for a s465 complete kit? Irate makes a s468 kit for 3100. But idk the different between the 465 an 468. That was another reason i was interested in the s366 was the kit is only 2200. Im not going to skimp and create a weak spot, i need to save everywhere that i can.

A lot of the extra cost of the S468 is in the turbo.. The FMW cost quite a bit more than a stock cast wheel.

Call Jake and see if he can get you an S465. As far as the kit goes, you should be able to mount an S465 in place of one of his S471s. The T-4 flange is the same, v-band outlet on the compressor housing is the same, the exhaust outlet should be the same and compressor inlet should be the same.

Like Travis says, I have the 160/80's with the s366. When I'm on the road again next week I'm going to take note of my backpressure, which I haven't done yet. I can hit 36 psi boost in the hot tune but I can only hold about 20psi pulling hard (16K) with EGT's at 1200. I can get my EGT's up to 1500 if I let them go. What I need real bad is live tuning. Jake has sent me some tunes but I've been to busy to burn them on to the chip. Travis is kind enough to help me figure out how to use the burner but I've been so busy trying to remodel a old house I haven't gotten to it yet, but I will. In other words, I think its a great setup but I need to take the time to work the bugs out and get it fine turned.

If running the S468 and the 238/100s how well would it spool?
At WOT empty would you see it in second? Or not much until into 3rd.

I plan on running that setup eventually. Or would you go 471?

Also, if running the S468 (or 471 for that matter) with those hybrids. would you need a wastegate?
I suppose for reliability and longevity it would be wise, but necessary?

Glad you gettin him squared away. Good info there.

You have to push the firewall in quite a ways, but cutting isn't completely necessary. I have my buddy's truck right now that is running an S468 on Jake's mount and while the fit is tighter than tight, the firewall wasn't cut. Its kind of like stuffing a 10lb turd in a 5lb bag though.

I thought you got it figured out? Guess not. LOL We definitely need to try to get me remote access to your computer and see what I can do. No big deal though. I've been beyond busy as well.

238/100's with an S468 would be a strong setup.. The S468 should spool quicker than an S471 and flow almost or right at the same amount of air as the S471..

As far as spool up goes, it largely depends on auto vs manual. Remember, the auto 1st gear is pretty much like 2nd in a manual as far as gearing goes. So with an auto @ WOT from a stop, it'd probably spool around 2500RPM in 1st gear and hold boost through all gears great.

You won't need a wastegate with that setup unless you decide to spray nitrous. LOL

I had to cut mine quite a bit in order to be able to push it back far enough. We had to cut Cody's to fit an S400 with a hypermax mount too. I think Steve had to cut his to fit his S400 on Jake's mount. The only reason we have to cut it is to be able to bend it back far enough.. That area of the firewall is stiff as hell.

So what is the fastest spooling turbo that i wont need a wastegate while running 180/100?

Just curious why you are set on the 180/100s? Travis said the s366 would be questionable about a wastgate. You wont need a wastgate with a s400 turbo. And it sounds like he sugested the s468. So if your already going with a s400, you might as well dish out the cash and get hybrids.

Yeah from what Travis has said...it 'tells me' that if you are already going as big as 180/100s that you are going to need a larger turbo, but an S300 series will need a wastegate to be reliable.

If you want to not bother with a wastegate you will have to go with an S400 series turbo.. and if you are already spending the big $$$ to go there you might as well step up to the 238/100 hybrids (or something close) because the S400 series turbo can handle those big hybrids without needing a wastegate as well!

I say "might as well" because the S400 can handle the more power from the hybrids still without needing a wastegate and you get more ponies.
And at this point clearly money was the issue... so saving the $500 on the 180/100s rather than the 238/100s.

So overall....
S300 with 180/100s and wastegate for reliability.
S468 (or 465 i supposed) with 180/100s and without a wastegate.
S468 with 238/100s and without a wastegate.

At least thats the way i see this threads options. lol

So here is jakes answer when i emailed him

Hello Aaron,
The s366 would work fine with the 180's. you wouldn't be overspending the turbo. We can also get a 1.10 housing for it as well but it is a bit more money. It will spool faster than the s400 turbo due to its turbine wheel size. I have a lot of customers running the 366 and it does a very good job. We can get the same basic turbo in a 400 frame though if concerned with running a gate. But for the 180's it wouldn't be needed. You would be right in the 40psi boost range with that injector setup and the 366 turbo.

Both turbos will require some clearance work on the firewall for the down pipe. There is some extra space needed to fit the down pipe into the truck and right behind the driver side head to drop the up-pipes into place. It doesn't take much but does require some additional clearance.

I wasn't there for the install, but to my untrained eye I can't see anything cut. There isn't but maybe 1/4", 1/2" at most between the compressor housing and the firewall but that big bugger is in there.
